@Gaismair Is this just a me opinion? I really loved Perlstein’s books Nixonland is phenomenal. But his latest book Reaganland (the only one post 2016) wasn’t great and felt a lot less nuanced and biased than his other books.
@Vasyl0451@DerekPederson3 At least initially the deal with NK was they could provide rear security and the territory of Russia. They weren’t supposed to fight in the frontlines of Ukraine (of course this may have changed)

That’s partially the cause of the idiotic invasion of Kursk. Which used up valuable Uk. Equipment while allowing Russians to use NK and conscript troops who weren’t allowed to fight in Ukraine proper.
