@MichaelSocolow I do think AI is going to change news but I have hope it could be beneficial to good journalists. There are things I've actually tried to get AI to do for me (currency conversions for example) that I wish it could take off my plate, but it hasn't managed to do it right yet.
Seeing people rave about politicians "pandering to people" drives me absolutely insane.
You mean politicians are saying they'll do what people want? Isn't that how it's supposed to work in the first place, ya idiot? You want them to double down on doing stuff we don't want?
@adamconover I keep telling people this. Every poll and survey has shown that the Dems' prior immigration stance was an absolute electoral loser, even in liberal strongholds.
The thing about elections is, you need people to vote for you to win - even if those people are idiots.
@mcmansionhell This is why I give my nieces books for every birthday. Last a heard one of them now wants to be a scientist and I take partial credit due to all the science-based stuff I've given them.
@mcmansionhell I've put hundreds, if not thousands of hours into ceramics and wheel-thrown pottery. There's clear improvement from my first pieces, but they all still suck.
Sometimes it's just nice to have a task that I can focus on and is completable.
@Horse_Jeans Reminds me of that World of Warcraft "plague" incident researchers ended up studying.
Turns out a sizable chunk of the population, knowing every danger, would ABSOLUTELY gaze into that egg to see what the fuss is about even knowing it's a bad idea.
@KillerMike I feel like I've read these exact arguments every election season since I first followed you on twitter, guess it's that time of year again.
Agree or not Mike's been pretty clear and not shy about his stance for YEARS I don't get why this keeps happening.
@meatymcsorley Look based on my experience in retail at least 20% of people are dumb enough to stare at a loaf of bread and get irrationally angry that it's not milk, so labelling really does need to be as blatant and uncomplicated as possible.
@MichaelSocolow I'm just glad I found a role in the business journalism space that lets me take a crack at the occasional deeper story while still actually getting paid!
@eclecticbrotha There's no group with more elitist assholes than the true "audiophiles" that spend way too much money on audio equipment that can perform feats imperceptible to the human ear.
Every single one of them I've encountered has been an insufferable dickhead.
@david_isaac86@BRuddTweets As someone who lives here trust me PLENTY of people visit. I can barely get a croissant at Zu since it won a James Beard award!
Hard to blame people for visiting - there's a reason I like living here.
The juxtaposition between the Walz photo full of smiling children getting free lunch and the many photos of grim-faced children looking on as they're granted permission to go back into the mines by Republicans doesn't feel real. Like it has to be a 30 Rock bit right?
@mcmansionhell Everyone at NOAA is awesome and also great to hang out with. One of those governmental functions that renews your faith in the people in charge when you talk with them.
It seems like a lot of the criticism of Biden's verbal gaffes is coming from people in their early 20s who didn't experience the 2008 election as an adult and thus don't remember his constant and headline-worthy gaffes.
