I am crushed and angry. After an inspiring 2-day huddle on walkability w/ @americawalks, I learned that two pedestrians died on @CityofCostaMesa streets incl. on a @CaltransOC road we know is dangerous & deadly. Pedestrian deaths are preventable, unacceptable, and must be ended.
Freeway in LA falls apart, Governor @GavinNewsom flies down to SoCal, declares state of emergency, and gets it fast-tracked for repairs in a matter of weeks. Where is that leadership when it comes to the second busiest rail corridor in the country?
Tonight @City_of_Irvine will vote whether to approve the budget for the city’s first ever Open Streets Event, modeled after @CicLAvia. Events like these show the power of walkable, bikeable cities.
@tammykimOC @LarryAgran @MayorofIrvine @DrTreseder please support this item!
Thank you @BuenaParkCA for moving forward on a citywide Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP)! An equity-centered plan will address #environmentaljustice and unlock funding opportunities for BP residents.
@City_of_Irvine will discuss increasing their CAAP budget, a significantly reduced plastics ordinance, and shamefully, @LarryAgran has again agendized whether to leave @OCPowerAuth.
Tomorrow, THREE OC cities will be considering #ClimateAction items on their agendas 👇
@CityOfOrangeCA will vote on a #SustainabilityPlan! This is a critical first step to addressing local climate concerns and we thank CM Gyllenhammer for bringing it forward.
Tonight, the city of Irvine will designate Oct. 27 as Millie Rose Scooter Safety Day in honor of a two year old who was killed ON THE SIDEWALK by a minivan last year.
A thread on @cityofirvine transportation harms. 🧵
Last week in OC: “A majority of supervisors – w the exception of Foley and Sarmiento – voted to disagree… that “climate change is inevitable and exacerbated by human behavior.” 😳
Shocking + totally unsurprising. TY @SupervisorFoley + @OCSupSarmiento

It's disappointing when our elected leaders say they're "at a loss" on climate change when SoCal has been baking under hellish conditions this summer.
@SupChaffee4@Donald_Wagner@joinandrewdo we expect more from you. Please act on climate at @OCGovCA. 🌍🌍🌍
There’s disagreement amongst OC Supervisors about how often you should listen to the county’s citizen watchdog panel on some of the region’s most pressing issues. https://t.co/dErJQmRyEb
@SupChaffee4, it's interesting to hear you say you're "at a loss" on climate when you pledged to support a number of policies in our Guide last Fall, including a county Climate Action Plan.
@OCGovCA has a crucial role in addressing climate. But it seems you already know that.🌍
Great to see so much robust discussion about housing in the Coastal Zone this week! If you stand for housing and coastal access for working families, tell the Coastal Commission to support the Magnolia Tank Farm project in Huntington Beach! https://t.co/VkM8xzQmxu
The involvement of local government is key to ending the climate crisis. Read CCL member Karl Reitz's article as to why @OCGovCA needs a Climate Action Plan NOW. 👇🌍

Climate Action Plans are essential to organizing a local gov's strategy for reducing emissions and ensuring #EnvironmentalJustice for the most vulnerable. Why doesn't @OCGovCA have one yet?
