⚠️‼️Tesla should IMMEDIATELY introduce an FSD-at-purchase discount to maximize its take rate. ⚠️‼️
✅$5k at New Car Purchase
✅$12k (current) after Purchase.
➡️Brief 30-day catchup for existing owners.
There must be a massive wedge to REWARD day-1 adopters.
We estimate this would likely 5x the current take rate, along with announcing a 30-day catchup for existing owners (in fairness to them), enabling $5k for 30 days only (maybe at some point in future again, but no guarantees).
5x the take rate would likely mean 35% vs 7%. Though today’s take rate may be even lower, amplifying the potential benefit.
On 2m vehicles, that’s 28% more take. Immediately $2.8b more PROFIT, which is about 90c more in EPS. That would increase EPS estimates from 3.94 to 4.84 in 2024, or 22.8% greater.
This does NOT even consider existing upgrades, which could SKYROCKET Q4 EPS, softening the damage of Q4 earnings we expect. Remember, the $7500 credit is more desirable Jan 1 as purchases get it immediately starting Jan 1. This FLIPS the usual Q4 rush, meaning Q4 comps and forecast DO NOT LOOK GOOD.
This FSD sale would BENEFIT:
✅Tesla
✅Users
✅Shareholders
✅Data advancement
At $5k, we estimate the loss on resale is likely less than $2000, whereas the loss on resale is likely closer to $9,000 at $12k. That’s a massive roadblock to adoption today.
Additionally, at $5k, we substantially reduce purchaser risk of opting into #FSD. Thus reducing the desire of people to subscribe for $200/mo, as their breakeven cost is now just 25 months vs 60 months at $12k. Instead, they’re motivated to buy now, accelerating Tesla’s cashflow, earnings, and ramp.
Perhaps also offer a $300 option, which contributes $100/mo to “paying off” FSD at a slightly higher price, like $6,000.
⚠️‼️NOTE: Consider tagging and sharing this with @elonmusk or your friends at @Tesla. I love Tesla and want the best for all. I have high hopes for Tesla, but I’m very concerned about low FSD take rates damaging Tesla’s ability to sustain their long-term vision without significant pain in the near-term, pain which could be reduced.‼️⚠️
⁉️What about those who paid $12k? Simple. Offer reasonable some form of referral credits in the referral store. There is no guarantee the price won’t go down, but hey, 20k referral credits is a nice offset AND reminds folks to use their referral link.
This could be the best ad Tesla makes this holiday season. I know Tesla will hear us if we work as a community to share this message.
Like, share, retweet, screenshot and tag Elon, whatever it takes. Let’s make Q4 the #BestQuarterEver
