Greater Bengaluru Authority along with Traffic Police, will launch a drive from July 10 to remove abandoned vehicles from roads and public spaces under Section 324 of the GBA Act, 2024.

Owners will receive a sticker notice and wheel clamp, with seven days to remove the vehicle. Unclaimed vehicles will be towed, seized and auctioned as per law @GBA_office @BlrCityPolice

Bengaluru's footpath encroachment clearance drive continued across the city's corporations on July 8.

Bengaluru North City Corporation cleared 14 km of footpaths on Day 7, removing 41 shops, 38 pushcarts, 143 canopies, 133 ramps/stairs, 90 signboards and 5 sheds, besides clearing 112 tonnes of debris. Bengaluru South cleared 11.4 km, while Bengaluru West removed encroachments along 10.4 km of footpaths as authorities intensified the pedestrian-first drive @GBA_office

Law and Order Under Fire: Six Held After Hindu Woman Alleges Knife Threat in Puttur

Six youths were taken into police custody after they allegedly threatened a woman with a knife while she was on her way to work. The incident occurred on Wednesday (July 8) at Purusharakatte in Puttur taluk of Dakshin Kannada district.
According to reports, the woman had parked her scooter at Purusharakatte as usual to travel to Mangaluru for work when a group of youths allegedly approached her, brandished a knife, and threatened her.Frightened by the incident, she immediately boarded an autorickshaw and left for Puttur. However, the group allegedly continued to pursue her. Around six youths reportedly followed the autorickshaw in a Thar SUV and allegedly threatened her again.The alleged incident of the youths brandishing a knife and intimidating the woman was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.

Bengaluru South City Corporation Commissioner KN Ramesh reviewed plans for Banashankari Junction with officials.

The pedestrian skywalk project, for which bhoomi pooja was completed, has been temporarily halted after B-SMILE proposed a grade separator to ease congestion.

Consultant @nnarasimhan and officials said studies by Corporation and BMRCL support a pedestrian-friendly skywalk linking all road arms, citing heavy footfall and Supreme Court orders prioritising pedestrians.

B-SMILE ED Prahlad said skywalk should not block a future flyover/underpass.

Ramesh said a report on the need, costs and feasibility of both projects will be submitted to higher authorities.
