I commit to working through the imperfections of this change moment and taking steps to realize a future we have not seen, a Chicago where race is no longer a predictor of our outcomes.

Opting to discuss Ed equity, @JohnKozlar says that we should get rid of notion of K-12, not all students want to be academic. Says should be K-10, with option to go 50% academic 50% trades starting junior year. Also says parents should get to choose schools.
Final answer from @LightfootForChi: says NTA did everything we asked them to do, got to Level 1+, and still tried to yank out rug. Says has laid out solutions in her Ed policies, says community can’t be treated like guests, have to be part of convo. Calls for elected school board
First answer from @Garry4Chicago: says sounds like a broken record, but the key is have to do things legitimately. Someone was getting paid in the NTA closure. Also calls for half elected half appointed school board.
Thank you @ChgoCivilRights for putting on tonight's mayoral forum, and for pressing the candidates on equity and opportunity. These conversations move us forward. #CivilRightsMayor
Next on Q3 is @DrWillieWilson: says during closure of 50 schools, teachers didn’t have jobs, students with disabilities had to travel further. Says if I was mayor, and I closed 50 schools in white communities, what would people have thought!
Q3 (ed equity): Last month, a judge stopped CPS from closing NTA. Parents and community groups challenged the plan in a complaint with @ChgoCivilRights and others. How will you transform the community engagement process in CPS to offer community a meaningful say as mayor?
