Well look who we “caught” on the river! Thanks to @RickPerkinsMP for coming by the East River study! This is the longest running study of elvers in Canada and we’re out manning it (with @DFO_MAR science) despite there being no season.

Busy day on the Hill. Minister @DiLebouthillier is appearing at the @OurCommons Fish Committee on estimates. In her opening remarks first section was on #elvers and the great job @DFO_MAR is doing on enforcement - and we agree!
Just don’t know why we can’t fish at same time 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well alright! The (very amended) motion from @RickPerkinsMP calling on @DiLebouthillier and the government to open a 2024 #elver season has passed the Fisheries committee! Thanks to all three opposition parties who voted yay!
