Y2 CMD MFA students and their instructor, Chelsea Chandler, journeyed to Kalamazoo, where they toured Newell Brands and presented their CMD Studio III concepts for their CCS x Newell Brands Sponsored Project 'The Cost of CMF: Suitability, Sustainability, and Supply Chain."
Students participated in the Biodesign x Mars Wrigley Sprint. The final outcome was "Spice Bond," an organic and responsibly sourced spice blend tile that minimizes packaging waste while creating a culturally connective and healthful experience for our consumer.

In the Color Lab class, students created color studies with fallen leaves based on Josef Albers' exercise from his book, "Interaction of Color."

Meet the Chair of MA/MFA Color and Materials Design, Melanie McClintock!
Before becoming the Chair of the Color and Materials Design (CMD) department, she spent two decades working in the fashion industry and academia in New York, San Francisco, Qatar, Indonesia, and Detroit.
The Ruderal Material Project looks at ruderal flora specifically colonizing Detroit’s historic Belle Isle’s Wet-mesic Flatwoods, currently disrupted by flooding, human disturbance, and deforestation.
