@WalkableAustin Wish we were building these out as single stair apartments rather than the prison style corridors, they’re just so much nicer to live in.
But yeah, trying to preserve an empty lot is insanity.
Also endlessly baffled by the lack of rooftop patios/restaurants on these.
@KUTnathan The city is voting tomorrow to annex 2,614 Acres, and handing over their right to have a say in how it's developed for the next 45 years! This should be a massive story no?! it's like mueller + domain + rainey, times 3!

@avabrendgord_tv The city is voting tomorrow to annex 2614 acres, and hand complete control over to the developers! How is this not a massive story right now?

@ryan6351@JackCraver@atxREpodcast Fixing up the old line has to be a fraction of the cost of building the new one? The new one needs properties purchased, eminent domain and legal fights, demo/clear/earthworks, and then building it. It seems there’s an incredibly convenient path to the airport already there
@KUTnathan Absolutely astounding that in one dept the city is spinning gears trying to get a light rail going, and planning “high priority next ups” to be connecting it to the airport, and in other depts, literally disassembling the existing railway that goes….to the airport.
LA is about to have a unique opportunity to build back differently, will they use this to increase density and affordability in their city?
Many of our great cities have been improved substantially after great calamity, see Boston fire 1872, SF 1906..
@Aella_Girl Depression is a muddy concept, as is "happiness". IMO our brains know we should avg out to "happy-ish", but still feel swings up and down as things happen (so we know to seek or avoid them). Reducing emotional volatility, ibuprofen or zen, moving baseline, sunshine & friends.
@ReformedFA@atxREpodcast Yeah, new subdivisions are an opportunity to start fresh, mueller is an interesting example, but a rarity since there happened to be undeveloped land close to the core.
Also, we have plenty of limestone too if we’d wise up about using it and cutting through it.
WATCH: A hoard of speedy feral hogs surprised two Austin women who were biking this morning on the Southern Walnut Creek Trail.
