If you can do it small, you can do it big.
Most people in trading (and life) are too focused on getting to that “next thing” but the traders that lean into that above mantra find a superpower, allowing them to be right where they are, knowing that performing today is every bit as important and valuable as that “next thing.”
Some really good convos with desk traders lately on removing PL from screens.
If you stare at PL while in a trade, this is for you.
Remove it! It will drive your emotion (and your emotional impulses).
Yes, have it up somewhere, perhaps minimized. There are a few key times where it's a great idea to pull it up:
1. have a losing trade you had an issue on? got slipped? etc. go check PL
2. have a few losing trades and wondering how much risk you have left for the session? go check PL
3. thinking you may be up past your giveback initation threshold? go check PL
4. think you may have hit your giveback? go check PL
It's fine to check PL. It's not fine to stare at it all day while in trade's and let it affect your decionmaking.
you need to make a conscious effort not to stare at the charts, keep yourself busy (could be a new hobby or some other talent you wanna learn)
the obvious trades will 100% stand out, then you'll get dragged into the market. For example yesterday I took some scalps because I sensed some great opportunities
One of the key factors for a successful trader is the ability to adapt no matter what you ‘want’ to see happen to the market
I begrudgingly closed my longs last night, but this morning I woke up to these tokens being significantly below my exit price
Now it seems like i am a genius, but in reality I had absolutely no idea what would happen in the immediate short term
Just when you thought we were done with farms, Bybit Intern decided to come out and farm
A random pumpfun coin launches and tweets out a photo of that dog, 10 minutes later Bybit tweets the photo, and THEN even reply's to the projects twitter
Also not to mention, it's a coincidence that the Dev bought 73% and dispersed it to hundreds of wallets and those wallets are actively selling.
Genuinely so curious if I'm missing something obvious that explains it because this just doesn't make sense
onchain is a game with factors out of your control. i used to complain all the time about insider pnds, kols exploiting their followers for exit liq, fnfs vamping coins but i realized that feeling frustrated about these things was counter-productive. truth is, none of these things can ever be cleansed, they are simply game mechanics that the player must strategize around. in a free market everyone plays for themselves and their guild, anything is fair game, and its up to the player to devise a way to conquer them
