Tell your kids to postpone and planned illnesses. There’s no Tylenol, no Motrin, and no antibiotics.
But by all means continue to bar trans kids and women from appropriate medical care.
Got an email from an angry mom who pays taxes because I’m pushing a homosexual agenda in my book displays, and…I’d just like to thank the academy , and the writers who make what I do possible, and of course God
I was hired in 2008. We never recovered the staff cut in the Great Recession. Yet somehow we provided more service hours in that time. I’m not sure how we can make city council see that even an increase that seems significant, seems so because we have been starved
It’s disheartening to feel that city council sees the library as somehow unwilling to provide services. As they meet remotely, I have been here in person since June of 2020. My entire career I have worked every other Saturday up until the covid shutdown.
I’m late to every baseball game and practice my kids play in. I’m not home until after bedtime two nights a week. The earliest my family can have dinner together the other two nights is 7 pm.
Suburban libraries do not require this many late nights of their staff, and in my experience in montco was far fewer weekends (once a month or once every three weeks)
"I'm one of 350 @afscme33 workers who are library assistants, municipal guards, electricians, maintenance & clerical workers. We keep 54 library locations running, but we are the lowest paid and most ignored. We need @PhillyMayor#fundourlibraries " Jay, NE philly library worker
If I had a dollar for every time the boiler stopped working in my library…
You know what? I actually should. If the heat isn’t working and gas is leaking there absolutely should be money coming in to fix that.

"Children are walking up to libraries and finding them closed during the highest spike in gun violence our city has ever seen. It's unacceptable and it's preventable. We call on @PhillyMayor to #fundourlibrariesPHL" @afscmeDC47 Adam Feldman, library worker in Center City
Our library staff have done so much throughout the pandemic to keep our communities going! The Free Library must be fully funded to give our kids, elders, and all our neighbors the library services that we deserve. #FundOurLibrariesPHL@PhillyMayor@JamieGauthier1@Mr4thDistrict
