To George and Laura, Bill and Hillary — we're grateful for your friendship, counsel, and devotion to this country. And to Joe and Jill, thank you for being on this journey with us.
In the past week, Donald Trump has threatened nuclear war against Iran, called for the genocide of 93 million Iranians, publicly attacked the Pope, and compared himself to Jesus Christ.
Recall July of 2024 when every pundit and reporter in American media were urging President Biden to step down due to concerns over his cognitive health.
Where are those voices now? Where are the demands for Trump to be removed? Where is the flood of op-eds and cable news panels and social media posts calling for the 25th Amendment to be triggered?
Why are you all so silent on this?
Pope Leo XIV responds to Trump’s attack:
“I have no fear of the Trump administration or speaking out about the message of the Gospel. That’s what I believe I’m here to do and what the Church is here to do. We are not politicians…I do believe in the message of the Gospel as a peacemaker.”
My statement:
“Today, the U.S. Supreme Court stood up for the rule of law and Americans everywhere. Its message was simple: Presidents are powerful, but our Constitution is more powerful still. In America, only Congress can impose taxes on the American people.
The US Supreme Court gave us everything we asked for in our legal case. Everything.
I’m grateful for the leadership of the Liberty Justice Center, and in particular for the brilliant advocacy by its chair, Sara Albrecht, who led the fight when others wouldn’t and was dauntless in its defense of our constitutional order. I'm also grateful to the five small business owners who stood up against these unjust, unconstitutional taxes. By taking a stand, they have delivered crucial relief to tens of thousands of businesses and millions of consumers across the country.
Finally, I lack the words to properly thank my brilliant Milbank team, especially Colleen Roh Sinzdak and Sami Ilagan, who worked with me day and night for many months to craft the winning argument.
This case has always been about the presidency, not any one president. It has always been about separation of powers, and not the politics of the moment. I'm gratified to see our Supreme Court, which has been the bedrock of our government for 250 years, protect our most fundamental values.
Three-time Trump voter:
I’m a registered Republican. I voted for Trump, but I really want to apologize. I'm looking at this awful picture of the Obamas. What an embarrassment to our country. All this man does is tell lies. He is not worthy of the presidency. He takes bribes blatantly, and now he's being a racist blatantly…He's pathetic as a president, and I just want to apologize to everybody in the country for supporting this rotten, rotten man.
I have called for the full release of the Epstein files. I have provided a sworn statement of what I know. And just this week, I’ve agreed to appear in person before the committee. But it’s still not enough for Republicans on the House Oversight Committee.
A lot of good people are on a hook over Donald Trump. They voted for him for understandable reasons: to stop Hillary of Kamala, to prevent court-packing, to move the embassy to Jerusalem, to reduce regulations.
They rightly applauded his toughening of immigration policy. They began to feel invested in him. Sure, he was boorish and bombastic, but he was delivering most of what he was elected to do. Naturally, they bridled at criticism from people they disliked, some of which was indeed absurd.
But he has plainly now lost his mind. There is no other way of reading “I am going to threaten an ally with invasion because I didn’t get the Nobel Peace Prize”.
It is impossible to exaggerate how high the stakes are. If Putin had put an agent in the White House, what would would be doing differently?
We are talking about the survival of the Western way of life, about the world order of which the United States is the chief exemplar and beneficiary. That, surely, matters more than “liberal tears”. Doesn’t it? Because if it doesn’t, we are all damned.
What the fuck is wrong with you?
You have no idea who this woman was. You have no idea what she believed. You have no idea what an actual investigation might show. A 37-year-old American citizen was killed. Her 6-year-old son has been orphaned. Her family and friends are going through the worst moment of their lives. And all you can do is call her a "deranged leftist"?
Seriously what the fuck is wrong with you?
"Iron laws of the world"? Some of America's most important national accomplishments are about leading humanity away from this kind of bullshit.
If we let ideologues like Stephen Miller drag us back into a world where brute force is all that matters, all of us will be less safe.
5 years ago today, our Capitol was attacked. A year ago, Trump pardoned the worst attackers as a reward for their violence.
You should know them.
1/ Let's start with David Dempsey - he was out for blood: pepper sprayed officers, stomped on their heads, beat them with poles.

Kari, surviving an abusive and violent father was hard for my family. We rejected his evil ways and accomplished the American Dream. From that family we have a cancer doctor, a teacher, a businesswomen and a Senator who kicked your ass in the 2024 election.
