Over the past 19 years, I've watched @MichelleObama, who never sought a career in the public eye, become a master orator. Her speech yesterday at the opening of the Obama Presidential Center may have been her very best. Moving, direct and powerful.
Obama: In forming our union, the founders felt terribly short of the declaration's promise, leaving slavery intact, allowing states to restrict the franchise to white men who owned property. But in drafting a constitution and a bill of rights, they did have the foresight, the genius, to provide us with a framework that allows each generation to make our union more perfect.
And over more than two centuries, through petitions and protests, marches and strikes, moral appeals from the pulpit and conversations at the family dinner table, men and women from all walks of life, of every color, every faith, every region took up the cause of democracy and made it their own until we the people came to include not just some of us, but all of us
If Latino kids aren’t educated, America isn’t educated. If Latino families can’t build wealth, America is poorer for it.
Our fight for opportunity, dignity, and respect is rooted in a simple belief: when Latino communities thrive, our country thrives.
@LULAC
This is outstanding.
Senator Jon Ossoff was asked for his response to Donald Trump after he called him a "failed Dumocrat" and "Os(jerk!)off” and he managed to destroy him without stooping to his idiotic level. Just awesome.
President Trump has been saying the quiet part out loud: he wants to undermine our elections any way he can, and he refuses to rule out sending uniformed military to the polls or to collect ballots and voting machines.
That's why today I am introducing the Protect our Polls Act. Our legislation prevents President Trump from weaponizing our military and armed federal officers to interfere in our elections.
I am glad to be joined by Senators from across the country, especially states like Arizona, Georgia, Minnesota and Wisconsin which, along with Michigan, the president has targeted. All states that may very well decide who controls the House and Senate.
BREAKING: Leaked video shows Obama, on the day he signed the JCPOA Iran Nuclear deal, disgustingly saying:
“If other countries have ballistic missiles, it’s a little bit unfair for Iran to have none.”
What the hell was wrong with him? Sounds like something a traitor would say.
Oops… nevermind. That was Trump yesterday .
The White House was built to serve the American people.
Tonight it was used to promote a company the President owns stock in, sell subscriptions, promote corporate sponsors, push Trump crypto, and enrich the President and his family.
The founders warned us about kings enriching themselves from public office.
They did not fight a revolution for this.
This gave me chills
👩🏾🧑🏻🦱 Team Keisha/ Ossoff

Future First Ever Governor Baddie and Senator My Boo are Georgia’s winning team

Rep Jeffries nailed it: Trump ripped up a working nuclear deal because he suffers from Obama Derangement Syndrome. It brought together Britain, France, Germany, and more, but Trump destroyed it out of pure jealousy. Now Iran is stronger and Americans are less safe.
Ms. Rachel: As the American Academy of Pediatrics says, there is no safe amount of time for a child to be in detention. The Dilley immigration detention center must be shut down. We need to end the cruel policies of family detention and family separation.
VIDEO THREAD: Protesters marched in the vicinity of the White House amidst the UFC fight carrying signs like "WOMEN" and "IMMIGRANTS" while confining themselves in makeshift cages.
"Trump must go now!" they chanted. "We will not submit, and we will not obey!"
trump is rapidly becoming a lame duck President.
His name has already been removed from the Kennedy Center.
And his name will be removed from everything in due time.
He will go down as the worst President in American history with very little permanent changes he can point to.
#BREAKING: CO AG Griswold: “We are trying to interpret an executive order and rule making but at the end of the day, DHS would send states a list 60 days ahead of the election. We would then have to send the postal service a list 30 days ahead of the election, and to tell you the truth…it feels like a trap. So what happens if an eligible voter is not on DHS’ list? They are telling us that DOJ is going to come after us if we send that ballot out. It’s attempted interference, it’s attempted voter suppression, it’s no good. I don’t know exactly what they are doing, that is what I believe they are doing, but I do know it’s unlawful, it’s unconstitutional and we’re going to fight like hell to push back. The state of Colorado and other states are already in litigation and we are going to push back on the rule making that the postal service just commenced, published this week also.” 🤦♀️
BREAKING: Sen. Warnock calls for Supreme Court reform, telling NBC that “All options are on the table” – including adding seats!
In a powerful interview on Meet the Press, Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) made it crystal clear that Democrats are done playing defense against a corrupted Supreme Court.
Asked by host Kristin Welker if he would support adding seats to the Court, Warnock answered affirmatively:
“I think all options have to be on the table… We definitely need reform to this court. We need a code of ethics.”
Warnock laid the blame for the court’s descent squarely on Donald Trump and his acolytes for igniting a “terrible race to the bottom” through extreme gerrymandering and weaponizing the courts to make decisions favorable to the MAGA agenda to sometimes devastating effect on our fundamental freedoms.
In calling out the current Court for pouring “fuel on that fire” and undermining its own credibility, Warnock is making a significant shift in tone.
Expanding the Court, imposing term limits, and enforcing a real code of ethics have all become legitimate responses to the right-wing capture of the judiciary, and the influential Warnock is on board with it.
Since he managed to bully Congress into confirming his ideological right-wing nominees, Trump has considered the Supreme Court to be in his pocket, fuming with righteous indignation if they dare oppose him. Not because they are right or wrong, but because they didn’t acquiesce to his will after he took the trouble to nominate them.
But Warnock just made it clear: in his mind the era of one-sided rules must end, by whatever legal means necessary.
The Reverend Dr. Warnock speaks for all sensible Americans when he says he is tired of a Supreme Court that protects billionaires, strips away rights, and acts as an unelected super-legislature.
Fair is fair. If Republicans keep abusing the hallowed institution, Democrats have every right to fix it.
And all options should indeed be on the table.
