Maybe I’m overreacting, but the moment I saw this choreography, my heart sank.

What bothered me most wasn’t even the visual implication at first—it was the safety risk. Every time this move is performed, one wrong step, one slip, or one moment of nerves, and it’s JL’s head, neck, and body on the line. That’s a huge risk to take repeatedly during practices and live performances.

And if I’m being honest, the symbolism doesn’t sit right with me either. Watching the Filipino member repeatedly being used as the obstacle for someone to jump over was uncomfortable to watch, whether that was the intention or not.

What makes it worse is that JL always seems to be the one given the difficult acrobatic or high-risk parts. Why does it have to be him again? In this particular video, he only had a few seconds of highlight, which honestly made it feel even more disappointing. To then see him used in a stunt-like role for someone else’s moment felt like an insult on top of that.

Maybe part of my worry comes from the fact that this move relies heavily on perfect execution every single time. In the back of my mind, I don’t have the same level of confidence or peace of mind that I usually have when JL is the one performing the difficult parts himself, which only makes me more anxious watching this.

As a fan who cares for JL, this hurts in a way I can’t fully explain. It hurts seeing him put in harm’s way and feeling more like a prop than the P01 he is.

This isn’t about attacking anyone involved. I just think this choreography choice is unnecessary for a rookie group, carries too much risk, and does a disservice to JL.
