As a former Director of the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD-West Africa), Chairman of the Editorial Board at Premium Times, and Senior Fellow at CDD-West Africa, Prof. Jibrin has tirelessly championed democratic values, good governance, and accountability throughout his career.

His legacy includes shaping policy, mentoring future leaders, and ensuring that the voice of truth remains strong in the face of challenges. Happy birthday to a visionary whose work continues to inspire generations. Here’s to many more years of impactful leadership and service.

However, it's essential to reflect on our progress critically. Nigeria's ranking of 104th out of 167 countries in the latest Democracy Index report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, with a score of 4.23/10, underscores the challenges we face in strengthening our democratic institutions.

Nonetheless, this moment serves as an opportunity for renewed commitment to enhancing democracy and fostering inclusive governance for all Nigerians.
