A splashy JAMA AKI trial <https://t.co/Nkr37xvqCC> shows a huge effect size (RR 0.54) and a p value < 0.001. But the results were driven by preventing oliguria and had no effect on creatinine driven AKI, dialysis, shortened length of stay, or mortality.

And in another trial, ZEUS, ziltivekimab was unable to reduce CV endpoints despite effectively blocking IL-6. P-value of 0.9 <https://t.co/76DX1WSg8p>. This study shakes the foundations of a major hypothesis regarding the relationship of atherosclerosis and inflammation.

I love that the well done, convincingly negative trial will have more impact than the sloppy positive trial.
