If you think your coach is too negative, then give them more positive things to coach 🤷🏽♂️. I love this game at the expense of my heart. LISTEN before pointing fingers. Understanding the balance of what is said and how it’s said can be the rise or fall of development.
Saw a lot of heads down after games and looks of disappointment. Figure out what you did well and didn’t do well. It is ok to go back to the drawing board and look inward. There are more live periods but you have to look alive! Just my New Orleans EYBL thoughts.
Success has a certain look, sound, and posture. I know it when I see it. Saw a lot of basketball this weekend and the players that stood out most impacted possessions on BOTH ends without a play being run for them. My New Orleans EYBL thoughts.
Guards, if you throw a good pass to your big and they bobble it into a turnover, it’s ok to tap your chest and say “my bad.” Keep feeding them. Confidence matters and trust goes both ways.
Just my New Orleans EYBL thoughts.
Guards please learn how to feed the ball into the post. Every game has moments when your post earns position and needs a touch. Delivering the ball is a skill, not a favor. If you can’t make the pass, you’re leaving points on the table.
Just my New Orleans EYBL thoughts.
Your impact should be available at 7:00am, 2:00pm, 9:45pm, or whenever battle occurs. Food on the plate…EAT. Coaches not going to wait all game for you to figure it out. Find something to get you going! Just my New Orleans EYBL thoughts.
My core is the bridge for my children.
A strong foundation has to be set for them to cross.
The examples I set won’t just shape their habits… they will settle in their souls, guide their spirit, and echo through generations long after I’m gone.
Took a call the other day—D1 coach recruiting out the portal. First thing they said:
“We need a leader in the locker room.”
That’s why I preach 85% on: leadership, toughness, coachability, & character! Can a player dive into those CATEGORIES consistently and win?
Earn it — I’m celebrating you & your biggest fan!
Going through the motions — I’m letting you know… cool NEVER translates!
If I discern life is weighing on you — I’m praying for you!
I consistently pray for wisdom & discernment as I shepherd what GOD placed in my hands.
