You Can Be a Communist or You Can Be an American Patriot, but You Cannot Be Both.

This is true. Here is why:

1. The object of loyalty is different in kind. Patriotism is loyalty to a particular people, place, and constitutional inheritance – this nation, this founding, these generations. Communism’s first declared loyalty is to a class, not a country, and an explicitly global one.
“Workers of the world, unite” is not a metaphor. The nation, in that framework, is a bourgeois device to be dissolved on the way to something bigger. You cannot pledge yourself to a country and to a doctrine that treats the country as an obstacle.

2. The two systems disagree about who the state exists to protect against whom. The American founding is an engineering project built around a single fear — concentrated power — and every check, balance, and enumerated right exists to restrain it. Communism inverts that fear entirely: power is concentrated, always, in the name of the people, wielded by the party that claims to speak for them. A patriot defends the machinery built to limit power. A communist defends the machinery built to seize it. Same word, opposite blueprint.

3. Property is not a side issue you can trade away and still call yourself either one. The Fifth Amendment protects it beside life and liberty because the Founders understood something simple: a man who cannot own cannot say no. He depends on the state for his bread, and a state that feeds you can starve you. Communism’s opening move, every time it has been tried, is the abolition of private property. That is not a tax-policy disagreement. It is a different answer to the question of what a free man is.

4. The two systems have opposite relationships to truth. Patriotism, at its healthiest, leans on self-correcting institutions – a free press, independent courts, the right to be loudly, publicly wrong. Communism requires the opposite: negative selection, the loyal liar promoted over the honest dissenter, the systemic lie as the core mechanism. Import that machinery into American institutions and you are not practicing patriotism. You are running the disease under a new flag.

5. They disagree about what the past is for. Patriotism is gratitude for an inheritance, and the discipline of passing it on intact, or better, to the next generation. Communism’s foundational posture toward the past is contempt – tradition as oppression, history as a mistake to be corrected, Year Zero as the recurring dream. You cannot be grateful for a thing you also believe should be leveled.

6. They disagree about what institutions are for. A patriot treats flawed institutions as worth reforming, because underneath the flaws, they are still his. A communist treats existing institutions as targets – structures to be captured, hollowed, and repurposed, not preserved. One relationship is custodial. The other is predatory. They build different people.

7. And this one actually matters: you can call yourself both. Plenty do. It is not a synthesis. It is doublethink – the mind trained to hold two irreconcilable loyalties and call the holding a virtue. It resolves the moment a real choice arrives, because you can only act on one of them at a time. Property or seizure. Free press or the party line. Your country or the class that claims to transcend it. When that moment comes, you find out — not from what you called yourself, but from what you did — which one you actually believed.

The flag is not the test. The choice is.

Let me get this straight: Ro Khanna was taking a lot of heat at home because he was propping up a Nazi-sympathizing rapist (Graham Platner).

So in order to take the heat off of the fact that he had propped up a Nazi rapist, he flew to Israel to fabricate a diplomatic incident with an ally on behalf of a different group of Nazi-sympathizing rapists (Arab-Islamic supremacists).

And all of this could have been avoided if he had simply coordinated his visit with Israeli authorities instead of having a tour guide sneak him into a military-protected zone.
