Yall wanna know the dumbest paleontology take of all time? Well it’s ASS… because at one point there was a “two-brained dinosaur” myth and guess where the second one was? That’s right, number 2.
For years, scientists thought Stegosaurus had a second brain near its hips because its actual brain was only about the size of a walnut, while it had a huge cavity in its pelvis (I heard your mom does too). The idea was that this “butt brain” helped control its powerful back legs and tail. Like a prehistoric BBL (butt brain location).
The theory has since been debunked. That cavity most likely housed a glycogen body, a structure found in modern birds that’s involved in energy storage, not thinking. Although who says it couldn’t be a brain?
If you think your heard this somewhere it’s because the myth made it into the movie Pacific Rim, where Dr. Newton Geiszler says Kaiju need “two brains to move around, like a dinosaur.” This also proves you like shit sci-fi action popcorn movies like me too 🤭

My mom made me take piano lessons in elementary school and I was getting ready for a piano recital at my church and she was like you should learn amazing grace for your recital and I said no I’m going to learn the Jurassic park theme song (I did)
Did you know real dinosaur bones were found while building the Rockies’ ballpark? 🦕
It’s true: When construction on Coors Field began in 1992, workers found a vertebrate, some skull fragments and a rib that paleontologists confirmed belonged to dinosaurs
The bones are now featured in the Denver Museum of Nature and Science
