@PresidentPat I embed my video into my platform. Sometimes I show it through zoom as a class, sometimes I let them click on it and watch themselves, but they don't have to "go anywhere" to watch.
If you're frustrated with parents on zoom, give them something specific to help their child with. It makes the world of difference and there are beautiful things that will come of it.
One thing I appreciate about @eaepanthers is that PDs consist of using things as Ts as a practice for using it with our own Ss... using @padlet today for RI3.1 asking questions before/during/after a close reading!
Dear Students Who Don't Like Being On Camera,
I see you. I know you don't like turning it on. And I'm not going to ask you. When you are ready, shine bright. I'll be here to cheer you on.
Love Your Teacher
Just in case anyone needs a doc camera for zoom ...... get an old (or cheap) makeup compact ... put the mirror over your camera & it projects what's underneath :) you're welcome!
@jkirk___ Not all Ss have living environments they fee comfortable sharing. Maybe meet one on one with cameras to build a relationship, but please don't *force* cameras on! (2/2) also LOVE your words .. COME ALIVE teaching!!!!!!
@jkirk___ Please don't feel as if you need to force Ss to turn cameras on. They can participate through chat to show engagement, but I find I get more participation and buy in when I let them choose cameras on or off ... (1/2)
@scomorrison If you haven't read "Long Way Down" by @JasonReynolds83 ... do it! It's an AMAZING verse novel. Hands down my favorite book. & then his Track Series is really good too!
@kate52437325 @abbideckeredu YES! And not policing Ss to have their cameras on & in "real clothes" & not with their dog ... there are ways to ensure participation without cameras being on!!!!
There are ways to make sure Ss are participating on zoom without having their cameras on. THERE ARE WAYS Ss CAN SHOW PARTICIPATION WITHOUT THEIR CAMERAS BEING ON! 👏🏿👏🏾👏🏽👏🏼👏🏻 why is this even a thing?
