It´s June, it´s Waterloo month, it´s #MendizabalWednesday. The day to remember that spanish general who pushed napoleonic troops out of Spain, to Toulouse and then to their last chance at Waterloo
@FSupervielleB Desde mi ignorancia. El F18 lo opera la Marina. El F15 la fuerza aérea. F18A/C monoplaza. F15E biplaza.
Our next online lecture is this Wednesday at 7.30pm, when Simon Marsh of the Battlefields Trust will be discussing the role of artillery during the Civil Wars of the 1640s. How effective were cannon in reality? More details at: https://t.co/E1kDvuICVU

True, but we miss there @GeneralAlava who was another Wellington´s aide. Besides these white uniforms and green plumets sometimes appears a moustached gentleman wearing a blue uniform. A mexican-hispanic interpretation of the "spanish one who was there as it seems"? 😉
"Never have I seen such rascals!"
An Austrian general watched allied troops flee from Hougoumont. Wellington, standing beside him, didn't disagree.
His reply: "But after all, it is with these gentlemen that we must win the battle!"
The movie Waterloo (1970) perhaps hints at this. White-uniformed officers appear close to Wellington in several scenes, likely representing Allied liaison officers like the Austrian General Vincent.
The anecdote involves Nassau troops running from Hougoumont. According to one version, even "firing upon us as they ran."
Vincent allegedly said: "Jamais je n'ai vu de tels coquins!"
Wellington replied:
You win with what you have, not what you wish you had.
