@honeybadgerbett@acerangers5@RightOnRangers@Brandeezy2016 Also I used Seager’s slow start as an example to not bench someone based on said slow start; not him in general or his career stats. You’ve now referred to Seager in 3 or 4 different replies.
@honeybadgerbett@acerangers5@RightOnRangers@Brandeezy2016 Nicky Lopez statcast btw. These are metrics of a “wet noodle” as you say. Nothing about this says his streak is sustainable. Just because he’s hitting .300 in a handful of games doesn’t mean he has a long term hot bat. Balls are just falling for him
He’s good depth, that’s all.
@honeybadgerbett@acerangers5@RightOnRangers@Brandeezy2016 Brother, he’s batting .250+ his last 2 years. Multiple guys on the team haven’t done that. You’re picking on the wrong guy tbh.
Do Carter, Duran, Langford, Joc, etc. Everyone has been underwhelming & Smith fits in there too.
@honeybadgerbett@acerangers5@RightOnRangers@Brandeezy2016 Now do the rest of the lineup. Everyone is underperforming considerably.
Pulling Smith out of the lineup for a career journeyman who has played well for 10-15 games? Is dumb
Like I said, if Smith continues to underperform then moves should be made
@honeybadgerbett@RightOnRangers@Brandeezy2016 I’m not misinterpreting his point at all. Lopez is a journeyman and great for depth. He’s had a few solid outings but he’s not a starter.
If Smith can get going, he gives you more than Lopez does. If Smith doesn’t get going then well.. it’s someone else’s spot
@acerangers5@RightOnRangers@Brandeezy2016 He had a slow start. Look at Seager’s stats lmao guys start off slow all the time
Lopez has had a few lucky hits, he’s not a starter, great depth but nothing more.
Now if Smith struggles over the next couple of weeks then the convo can be revisited
@RightOnRangers@Brandeezy2016 You’re upset because a guy who is on his 6th team in 7 years isn’t starting? Give me a break lol
You don’t lose your starting role because you were injured. Tale as old as time
@marceye2010@TXRangersPR@Rangers Awesome. I’ll always respect Seager for what he did to bring us a World Series but bro can’t stay healthy and can’t seem to hit the broad side of a barn this year so it’s concerning
@MassacreOfAnts@TCinDALLAS No he didn’t do what a lot of guys do. He’s slow as hell on the bases. Time to admit that bro is washed and his career is coming to an end
He’s not the guy he was in ‘23 and likely won’t be again. Injuries take a toll on your body and his numerous injuries are clearly doing that
@JeffWilsonTXR@TheDallasNation Seager IL soon? Might as well just end his season and get him ready for next year. Bro has done nothing of significance this year
@RightOnRangers@NelrockM3 Small sample size of Osuna success vs Smith.
I love Osuna too but Smith coming back is a guarantee and his versatility across multiple positions is what gives him the edge. He can give pretty much anyone the day off (minus C) whereas Osuna can’t really that
