🧱 Optimized incorporation of shredded wind turbine blade waste in concrete using a particle packing approach
📖 Published in Construction and Building Materials by Ceren Duyal Kulak and the all the @TUeindhoven2 University of Technology team!
💡 This study investigates the reuse of shredded wind turbine blade waste (SWTB) as a multifunctional component in concrete. By optimizing the concrete skeleton through particle packing, we achieved high-volume SWTB incorporation while maintaining structural-grade strength and enhanced fracture toughness.
🔍 Key outcomes:
• Up to 5% blade waste incorporation without compromising performance
• Improved flexural behavior and toughness (up to +250%)
• No adverse effects on durability (e.g., no alkali–silica reaction)
• A scalable pathway to divert blade waste from landfill
🔎 This work contributes to unlocking circular solutions for composite waste in the construction sector.
