Rhetoric like this is exactly why international legal frameworks exist.
If leaders want to use the language of total destruction, they shouldn't be surprised when the international community and adversaries view them as a threat that needs to be neutralised
The SBS were not deployed in Uganda in the 1980s...
The British forces there were training the Ugandan army. The closest thing to SBS in Uganda in the 80s were para troopers
Why use fake stories like this to push agendas?
Just met John in Mile End.
John served two dangerous tours in Uganda in the SBS (Special Boat Service) during the 1980s.
He was discharged 6 months before he was eligible to claim a pension due to ‘cuts’ in the MOD and has received no help or recognition for his service since.
Under a Restore Britain government British veterans will receive:
✅ Fast-tracked NHS healthcare + mental health support
✅ Ring-fenced housing priority to end veteran homelessness
✅ Access to a dedicated fund for retraining into civilian roles (esp. police & immigration)
We believe that veterans like John deserve to be taken care of after everything they’ve sacrificed for this country. 🫡 🇬🇧
There is no place on this earth for those who rape children.
We introduced the Death Penalty for Child Rapists Act to make sure those who prey on our most vulnerable face the harshest consequence we can deliver.
Child rapists don't get second chances. They get the death penalty.
We will never apologize for protecting America's children.
Trump has skipped every correspondence dinner as president since 2017.
The one he attends a shooter somehow gets in and starts letting shots off.
Isn't it strange these high profile shootings happen when MAGA is losing political momentum
Incredible how calm and relaxed President @realDonaldTrump is sounding at this presser, given another would-be assassin just tried to kill him.
He is astonishingly resilient.
There's probably a legal reason why but the lack of explicit denial for sexual contact (rape) is very telling to me.
He doesn't explicitly say "I didn't do it"
🚨 NEW: Scott Mills has released a statement addressing his 2016 sexual offences investigation
“The recent announcement that I am no longer contracted to the BBC has led to the publication of rumour and speculation.
“In response to this the Metropolitan Police has made a statement, which I confirm relates to me.
“An allegation was made against me in 2016 of a historic sexual offence which was the subject of a police investigation in which I fully cooperated and responded to in 2018.
“As the police have stated, a file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determined that the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges.
“Since the investigation related to an allegation that dates back nearly 30 years and the police investigation was closed 7 years ago, I hope that the public and the media will understand and respect my wish not to make any further public comment on this matter.
“I wish to thank from the bottom of my heart all those who have reached out to me with kindness, my former colleagues, and my beloved listeners, who I greatly miss”
Absolute bollocks. Hinkley C is £50bn for just 7% of the grid.
To power the UK, you'd need 14 plants costing £700bn+ taking decades.
We could do 15 Dogger Banks + grid storage for £300bn in a decade.
BUT grids shouldn't rely on 1 source anyway.
The battery capacity to provide Britain with 2 weeks of electricity during winter would cost more than £2tn. Which is 20x the cost of building enough nuclear power stations to provide all the UK's electricity needs.
Health Secretary Wes Streeting says the "Jewish community will not face up to this hatred alone" and has promised the government will replace the damaged ambulances following an arson attack in Golders Green.

@EconomyComments@fergustp@Hudsonweather So, you're telling me this hasn't been a fascinating and insightful read? And you're not absolutely pining to learn more? 😂
@fergustp@EconomyComments@Hudsonweather You can't remove legal costs to fake a price. Gas operators legally HAVE to pay the carbon tax. But let's play by your rules: if we delete "policy choices" and CapEx, wind has zero fuel cost. So wind is officially £0/MWh! See how ridiculous that is? Gas is £147.
@fergustp@EconomyComments@Hudsonweather The AR1 wind you're obsessed with accounts for just 1.16 GW. The UK has 32 GW of wind spinning right now meaning "expensive" wind is barely 4% of the fleet.
With this in mind, the average CfD price today is way below £100. Gas is £147 because that's what is being paid by the UK.
@fergustp@EconomyComments@Hudsonweather Let me get this straight: you are arguing that "£100" (wind) is more expensive than £147 (gas) because you don't like the "policies" (legal taxes) that make gas £147?
@fergustp@EconomyComments@Hudsonweather You're comparing old 1990s gas plants that paid off their construction costs decades ago, to brand-new wind farms currently paying their CfD mortgages. It's economic illiteracy. We need NEW infrastructure for the 2030s. Official Gov LCOE: New Gas = £147. New Wind = £91.
@fergustp@EconomyComments@Hudsonweather With respect, you're chatting absolute shit now
Gas LCOE is £147, you're ignoring CapEx and tax to get the £60 fuel price. Also, Germany's costs are high because they relied on GAS, which blew up in their face. Norway uses 90% Hydro, which is a weather dependent renewable...
@fergustp@EconomyComments@Hudsonweather "No one paid for cars" Thomas, the government spent billions paving the entire country's dirt roads so cars could function! And during the 70s, the state paid to convert 40 million home appliances to run on natural gas. Infrastructure transitions are ALWAYS state-backed.
@fergustp@EconomyComments@Hudsonweather You're being obtuse now.
We are the most GAS-DEPENDENT country in Europe. We rely on globally priced fuel for 80% of heating and 40% of electricity. Countries with the cheapest bills (Norway, France) barely use gas.
