WATCH: PM @MarkJCarney addresses the Liberal Caucus ahead of Parliament resuming.
"Last month we made the right decision to suspend negotiations with the United States."
Says they will be introducing the most important legislation in decades.
Amazing!
Mark Carney on Trump: "We are looking for partnerships that are complementary, that reinforce our sovereignty. And that's what is on offer here. Nobody is going to tell us what language we speak, no one is going to dictate our culture, or with whom we can strike agreements internationally."
This standing ovation in Europe is not just for Mark Carney.
It is for every Canadian who stood up when the Trump administration tried to bully us into submission.
We didn’t fold. We didn’t apologize for existing. We backed our Prime Minister and chose sovereignty over cheap applause from Washington.
Europe just stood up and clapped for *that*.
Not for one man. For a country that finally remembered who it is.
Proud of us today. 🇨🇦🇪🇺

Michael J. Fox was just awarded the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award, which has only been given out 7 times in Emmys history. here's his full speech
"Initially, I kept my Parkinson's diagnosis a secret. I worried that it would affect my work and my relationship with audiences. Would they laugh if they knew I was sick? And then I was stunned by the support I got. The support from all of you. It was so uplifting. It made me feel like I could keep doing this and I hadn't lost what I do and they couldn't take this away from me. And it's because you stood up for me, and I really appreciate it."
Mark Carney: "The world is looking at Canada differently. And I'd suggest we should look at ourselves differently too. It's not about who we aren't, but who we are. It's not about what's lost, but it's what we have and what we can create."
Chrétien: I have a message for American friends. Yes, Canada is a generous, open country, and Canadians are tolerant and kind. But never mistake our generosity for weakness.
Never, never mistake our tolerance for lack of determination. And never, never mistake our kindness for softness.
We embrace our friends and we help them in their moment of need. But we bow to no one.
The more we are insulted or threatened and abused, the more we will stand up for ourselves and stand united.
Former Canada Prime Minister Jean Chrétien: "I have message for American friends...never mistake our generosity for weakness. Never mistake our tolerance for lack of determination. And never, never mistake our kindness for softness...We bow to no one."

Carney said: “Canada is a sovereign, independent nation. We are not a target to be bullied, nor are we a client state to be subordinated … We will not sign an agreement that sacrifices our basic sovereignty, undermines our legal system, or cedes control over our foreign trade to Washington.”
He called Trump’s demands a “last-minute power play intended to reduce Canada to an economic subsidiary.”
Jean Chrétien: "It looks like they don't know what to do. When your big thing is to change the name of a lake, it's because you're running out of arguments. It is a very weak gesture, to be cheap and nasty. Lake Ontario is not suffering. It's a lake."
