Dallas’ defensive collapse last season wasn’t just about “lack of talent.”
It was about a shortage of cerebral defenders guys who consistently ended up in the right spot.
That issue got amplified in Eberflus’ scheme that leaned heavy into structure and zone principles required decisive athletes that Dallas didn’t have enough of them and his refusal to adjust in-season made it worse.
Result: a defense that finished allowing 30.1 PPG (worst in the NFL) and over 500+ points on the year.
While I don’t think this defense will be top 5, I do believe the shift under CP will vault this defense into top 15-18, which is all you need to compete when you have an elite, high scoring offense.
Football IQ + instincts + versatility.
That’s why names like Caleb Downs, Dee Winters, Jalen Thompson, and Cobie Durant matter. Not flashy names, not just athletes, processors.
That’s the identity shift.
Jaishawn Barham reminds me a lot of Bruce Irvin coming out of West Virginia.
Same explosive 6’3”, 240 pound tweener build. Same violent play style. Same relentless, downhill mentality.
The difference? Irvin was mostly a static SAM/OLB.
Under CPs “Illusion of Complexity” defense, Barham is going to be all over the field. Showing in a two-high shell, dropping into coverage, blitzing off the edge, or shooting an interior gap.
Bruce Irvin’s violence with far more deployment versatility is going to be really fun to watch.
Facts.
Nobody has put out anything even close to songs like:
cLouds
39Intro
Crocodile tearz
Stealth Mode
I could go on tbh.
Not only that, but nobody putting together albums the way Cole is. The way he tells a story with every song and makes it align, unmatched🤷🏻♂️
J. Cole is rapping better than everybody right now. I'm talking strictly about rapping.
Flow. Cadence. Breath control. Rhyme schemes. Storytelling. Wordplay. Beat selection. Versatility.
Nobody is putting all of it together at the level Cole is right now.
You can argue Kendrick is a better artist.
You can argue Drake makes bigger records.
But when it comes to pure rap performance, I don't think anyone is touching J. Cole at the moment.
The Fall Off only strengthened that belief.

Walk with me cuz I’m long winded here:
I can assure you that Marshall is 10x more Hip Hop than Aubrey will ever be. Marshall comes from the trenches in Detroit. He started in battle rap. He came up on Lyricists Lounge (most y’all got no clue what that is)—Em embodies Hip Hop and he has since he came in this joint. His Hip Hop genetic engineering makeup is just different than Drakes.
When detractors speak on Em not being Hip Hop, they speak on him being white—that’s about it.
When detractors speak on Aubrey not being Hip Hop, they speak on him being half white. JuuWiishh. Canadian. From privilege. He’s a suburban kid. Started as an actor on a Canadian teen sitcom. He makes alotta Pop records.
This isn’t my personal opinion, but the list of reasons why ppl speak against Aubrey’s Hip Hop card, that list is as long as a CVS receipt.
When they question Marshall’s Hip Hop card, it begins and ends with “he’s white”.
Kendrick Lamar is an organic artist we watched rise from the bottom. Drake always had his hand held in this industry ever since he was a kid. Just a privileged Canadian cosplaying American hip hop.
Eminem lived more of a black American experience than Drake. By acquaintances/friends, by proximity, and he only rapped about content and life he knew. Never tried to go rap on other people blocks and play outside games.
Caelon Carson
Shavon Revel
Daron bland
Cobie Durant
Caleb downs
Jalen Thompson
Malik hooker
If Carson/Revel take a step and be what was expected of them coming out of college, this could be a very slept on secondary and arguably one of the best with Parker running things😮💨
IF CAELEN CARSON CAN PLAY UP TO HIS POTENTIAL... 👀
The #Cowboys secondary could quietly become one of the most overlooked groups in the league. Year 2 is usually where you find out who can really ball.
Do you believe Caelen Carson can lock down that CB spot this season, or should Dallas still be looking for outside help?

@ajigsayomide Raps better?!? In what world is this true? He’s not even on the same planet as KDot when it comes to rapping.
Better song writer?!? Dudes literally been exposed on multiple counts for having ghost writers😭
Kamelo Anthony/Austin Metcalf case makes my blood boil. Seeing people outside tryna defend a Kid that quite literally murdered another Kid is sad asf. This country is cooked.
I just know when he gets sent to prison we’re gonna see a bunch of protest and it’s sad
All imma say is, if Dallas has even a top 15-20 defense (they will), there’s not going to be many teams able to beat them😮💨 Not saying theyre going to get a ring this year, but I do Think they’re a lot closer than people think. They’ll be competing with LA for first in the NFC😮💨
“I know we talk about the Cowboys being Super Bowl or bust every year but they just MIGHT get close this time.”
@GregJennings has some confidence in America's Team this year 😅
See this is where I can agree that’s drama album is better than a Kdot album.
Young Drake (views & before) was one of the best to do it for sure. Since then, he’s completely switched up and went down hill. Turned into a streamer rapper.
Philly fans delusional asf. Gonna have a bottom 10-15 offense again. Then yell gon blame it on the new OC/losing AJ instead of the real problem that is your QB
Just cuz he played ball and was great at it for a bit, doesn’t mean he knows ball.
Dude also put AJ brown, and Davante Adams (he’s aged) in the top 5..
3 of his “top 5” WRs, belong nowhere near the top 5 😂
