A l'époque du punk et de son meilleur contraire, le disco, McCartney fait le choix de publier sans doute l'album le plus rock de ses neuf ans de carrière solo.
Paul ne sait pas encore que ce Back To The Egg sera le dernier album de son groupe qui aura marqué de son empreinte les 70's. Il ne sait surtout pas que le début de la prochaine décennie sera éprouvante à plus d'un titre pour lui.
Back To The Egg est un album clivant. Certains le citent comme un album mineur des Wings alors que d'autres le classent parfois au-dessus de Band On The Run.
