Yesterday I wrote that there is no such thing as #TwoTierPolicing in the UK.
I was subjected to thousands of abusive responses and threats — but it's true.
Today may be worse — anti-white racism.
Anyone using this term in the UK today should be ashamed of themselves. It is nothing but a racist dog whistle, and not a subtle one.
Another barely coded trope being liberally dished out by Reform UK — Farage, Jenrick and Yusuf have all used the term this week.
Growing up in Scotland, we learned very little about global history — a lot about Wallace, the Bruce and Bannockburn — but it wasn't until I moved down to England at the age of ten and into middle school, that I became fully aware of the historical horrors of racism.
Apartheid. Slavery. Colonialism. White Supremacy. Nazism. Segregation.
These historical events did not involve white people being persecuted, murdered because of the colour of their skin.
So for today's neo-racists and far-right parties to start claiming prejudice because they are white, is both grossly historically inappropriate and, as Farage knows only too well, reigniting genuine racism within the disenfranchised white population of the UK.
An education issue. A poverty issue. A systemic degradation of our working classes issue. A critical thinking issue.
Nigel Farage and Rupert Lowe know this, and they are highly skilled at weaponising it. They could not care less for those foot soldiers sent out to do their bidding. Ruprecht and Nigel want power at all costs.
The vast majority of British people are not racist, far from it. But those being sucked into the Reform/Restore machine are being made to act this way; some without even realising what they are saying.
Why does this touch me so deeply? Because I can still remember history lessons at school, and I can genuinely still feel the sense of despair I felt on learning the true evils of racism. That may sound hyperbolic, but it's true.
Cut to thirteen-year-old Don cycling his paper round, listening to Public Enemy on his Walkman. Chuck D going much further than my history lessons and only further enraging my sense of the unjust.
Today I have a platform, small thought it may be and, if I can make any sort of difference with some of the lessons I learned, then I'll be happy.
Have a fantastic Friday.✌️
The constant banging on about DEI is an infuriating American import into the UK.
In the UK we call it EDI. And EDI training is essentially summed up like this:
‘Don’t be a knob to other people, and realise some people face barriers you don’t.’
It’s not some woke conspiracy.
People often ask me why I keep creating books about Coventry.
The answer is simple. Every city has stories worth telling, and Coventry has some of the best.
Sir Alex Ferguson sends message of congratulations to Frank Lampard, praising his work in guiding Coventry City into the Premier League. “Your personality as a manager and a leader is so clearly defined in how your team has played great football this season, with confidence and self-belief, and I’ve enjoyed watching them,” Ferguson said via @LMA_Managers.
Lampard was awarded the Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy for LMA Manager of the Year voted by managers and based on the resources the individual manager has available to them. Ferguson added, “I know from speaking with you that you have great humility and, that important quality of a curious mind for learning.”
Following a glittering playing career (3xPL, 1xUCL, 1xEL, 4xFA, FOTY, 106 caps) Lampard could easily have simply gone into punditry. He's eloquent, insightful and brings authority to any discussion about elite football, club or international. But he loves the time on the training field, the contact with players, the challenge of building a team.
The competitive juices have flowed ever since he was doubted as a kid breaking through at West Ham. There's still a sense with Lampard that he is driven by proving people wrong. And proving himself right. And driven by a passion for the game and for winning.
Lampard has experienced a mixed time in management (at Derby, Chelsea twice and Everton), some of it very good, some less so, but his persistence (278 games and counting) and now lauded work at Coventry highlights his maturing into a manager of genuine substance at 47.
At a time when Dan Ashworth and Kevin Thelwell at the FA are focusing on developing more home-grown coaches, Lampard's prominence is even more significant. Thomas Tuchel's successor? #LMAawards #PUSB
While arguing that Next can't afford to pay 16-24 year olds the minimum wage, CEO Lord Wolfson forgot to say that for the fiscal year ending January 2026, Next reported an operating profit of £1.236 billion, marking a 13.4% increase from the previous year. #r4today
@KarlTurnerMP I’m sure Viv has done more for the @UKLabour party than you have. If it wasn’t for her sending daily updates on the government’s achievements we would be clueless as the hostile media suppress such things. You should be supporting the PM & letting your constituents know.
So just to sum up. Labour win a 174 seat majority under Keir Starmer and return to power after almost a decade and a half. They find governing challenging against the backdrop of struggling public services and low growth, and make unforced errors (winter fuel, Mandelson etc). Social media conspiracies, led by Elon Musk, contribute to a toxic political climate. Nigel Farage, the architect-in-chief of Brexit (which made things harder than they needed to be) pops up with his divisive rhetoric and poorly thought through policies and… Labour MPs, egged on by the media, panic. If Andy Burnham, a man without a plan, wins a staged by-election, he likely becomes Prime Minister. He then either calls a general election and loses Labour its hard fought majority, or struggles through for a couple of years before Farage is better “prepared” to move into Number 10. Stupid doesn’t cover it.
Darren Jones has always been impressive & an asset to the Labour Party. Not only is he a very capable & effective politician, he also has a heart of humanity. People love to throw at politicians that they ‘don’t care’, but many do & are often parents too.
The richest man on Earth dismantled the organization that feeds the poorest children on earth.
He also cancelled all of the global Ebola prevention programs. The UN has now declared Ebola outbreak a global health emergency.
Elon Musk’s dismantling of USAID has already killed more children than in Gaza and Ukraine combined.
He cut lifetimes for millions and the result is a silent massacres.
Nor should we forget his complicity in the genocide in Gaza, as well as in the war in Ukraine and the Epstein case.
I don’t understand how billionaires think. If I only had one billion dollars, I would rush to fix our world problem. Homeless, hungry, poverty, wars, climate change... etc. They can be heroes and not just billionaires. What a waste.
Inflation is down today, in part thanks to action we've taken on energy bills.
But the price of electricity is still set by global gas rates, despite half of our electricity coming from renewables.
So we're taking steps to fix that too.
Let me explain 👇
Great to see ‘right to buy’ reforms in the King’s Speech.
This will help our councils to invest for the long-term and ensure social homes are available to our young people, just as they were for previous generations. 🏡👇

@5haronl@fanofKGibran@Nigel_Farage No, of course you fucking don’t & that’s the fucking problem. That’s a lot of words to admit you’ll overlook possible corruption to uphold your bigotry. Your man is bought.
ALL Labour MP’s need to listen to this.
If you blow up the progress and stability Starmer has carefully created in the market, YOU will not be forgiven.
We want Keir Starmer to lead - we democratically elected him.
@wesstreeting@LBC@AngelaRayner@SkyNews
Hands off our PM
I’ve just joined the Labour Party –
Im not a typical Labour voter, but @Keir_Starmer
Has brought stability and security back to the country.
Its what we all want!
Peace!! to live, raise our family, for our jobs, bring up our kids. No drama, histrionics. Just dull stability!!
UK GDP per head grew by 0.6% in q1 2026 to which is the fastest economic growth per capita in a quarter for 4 years…
UK GDP growth itself is fastest of the 6 G7 countries that have reported so far (and Japan expected at 0.4%, would be fastest full stop)
Quite the backdrop for a leadership challenge…
I rarely ever comment publicly on parliamentary Labour politics anymore but I know so many (albeit quietly) feel the same as I do.
I first joined the Labour Party when I was 16 years old, under Ed Miliband. I’m now 28, meaning I’ve been an active member for over 12 years.
A Labour government is rare. Do they always get it right? Absolutely not. But every single one has brought about profound changes for the better of the working class.
Many members just like me have spent over a decade campaigning to give us a chance in government. It’s an absolute kick in the teeth to watch so many MPs urge Starmer to resign & leave their own positions they were apparently ‘comitted’ to when Starmer won a landslide victory 2 years ago, and a leadership contest before that.
It comes across as unstable, insecure, and incredibly individualistic. It echoes of the exact behaviour the Tories exemplified for almost 15 years. The behaviour the country were fed up of & voted out!
In my sector, I’ve seen in real-time the positive changes this government have already made. Realistically, we knew we wouldn’t have long, and we were to make the most of this term.
Purity politics is the enemy of progress.
Reform have control of fewer than 10% of councils. That’s it.
Now is not the time to run scared.
We’ve hit 10,000 signatures.
That is a huge milestone, and a clear message to Labour MPs. People want stability, not a leadership crisis manufactured by hostile headlines and exploited by Nigel Farage.
Keep signing. Keep sharing. Tell Labour MPs to hold the line.
