Watching more film on #Pitt signee, tight end Wyatt Villarreal (@J_wyattv88), you can’t help but see similarities to former #Pitt standout Scott Orndoff (@Orndoff8471). Once he adds weight to his 6-ft-5 frame, he’s going to make an impact on the field. Wyatt has soft hands & he’s a physical blocker.
I was recently asked what I think about traditional “accountability” groups or the pressure to have an “accountability partner.” Here’s my no-nonsense answer.
I hate that stuff. Real accountability is something that emerges naturally inside a loving, trusted, unforced friendship—where you are known without having to perform, impress, or fear rejection. The manufactured versions—“accountability groups,” “accountability partners,” weekly sin check-ins—almost always collapse under the weight of their own artificiality. They create environments where the goal subtly becomes image management: how to confess just enough to look honest without being honest. You learn to hide better. You learn to curate your darkness so it sounds repentant rather than raw. And worst of all, they often replace the gospel with a kind of moral surveillance. True accountability is not someone policing your behavior; it’s someone holding your heart—someone who will remind you of grace when you forget, sit with you in the wreckage without trying to fix you, and love you without agenda. That kind of friendship doesn’t have to be scheduled, structured, or enforced. It’s given. It’s received. It’s grace.
The far right and far left are both beyond any form of Christian ethic. Both betray the Kingdom of God.
Sadly, the far right has tapped into the racism and misogyny that has never been uprooted from American Christianity and called itself Christian.
I long for a Christianity that isn’t beholden to partisan idolatry. How do you spot political idolatry? You only see candidates of one party as viable because you identify that party as a Christian party.
Pastors are not CEOs.
Churches are not corporations.
Members of the community are not investors.
We are shepherds.
We are a new family.
We are a community of servants.
@israelramirez71@RevSarahLocke “Reading the red” will not make you liberal. The poor interpretation of that reading will create a fear in you that is then directed either far right or far left. You will not find the Kingdom as a result of either party winning this next election cycle.
American Christian Nationalist are not saving Christianity but western culture - Christianity knows no nationalism - we are one kingdom made up of all nations with one King/President/Prime Minister we bow to named Jesus Christ - the antithesis of nationalism
“The devil always sends errors into the world in pairs--pairs of opposites. And he always encourages us to spend a lot of time thinking which is the worse... He relies on your extra dislike of the one error to draw you gradually into the opposite one.” - CS Lewis
Jesus saying "get behind me Satan" to Peter reminds us that we can be orthodox in our theology & still be complicit with demonic powers.
Peter had just confessed Jesus as the Christ moments before he was sternly rebuked.
Good theology alone doesn’t inoculate us from deception.
