Defending the lives of Black & brown people means banning facial recognition technology!! Major move forward in ending discriminatory practices by the police & other state agencies, etc that have devastating consequences for people of color. 🚨
Face recognition is a threat to not only our constitutional rights, but to Black, Indigenous, Latinx and People of Color and other marginalized groups who are more likely to be misidentified — and bear the consequences.

More stories of dangerous overcrowding and lack of medical care from the Cecil County Detention Center
This is why we need you to protest on June 1st, these abuses must end!
I am tired of this narrative that Democrats are saving democracy from Republicans because it’s not true. Democrats do not believe in democracy. They are one half of the corporate oligarchy & the far more sinister half as they pose as our ally right before stabbing us in the back.
"What would Baltimore look like if we had free housing and healthcare instead of heavily armed police."
Our communities do not want more police funding. We want less.
The stories about what’s happening in Cecil County Detention Center are getting worse
Still sewage backing up, still medical care being denied, still dangerously overcrowded, still have a COVID outbreak
So we still protest! Follow link to the event

A man was left with significant injuries after a traffic stop last week lead to Prince George's County police using a taser on him. https://t.co/BCiy6jlhbj
MASK OFF: Gov. Hogan just vetoed the Dignity Not Detention Act, my bill to ban ICE detention centers in Maryland. Hogan plays a "moderate" on MSNBC, but has never been a friend to our immigrant neighbors.
I look forward to the General Assembly overriding this veto next session.
That’s all we are trying to say!
Police budgets suck up so much money that could be used to help build up communities instead of locking people up.
For example in Cecil:
Sheriff’s Budget: $26 million
Library Budget: $6 million
#DefundThePolice refund our community!
When schools “fail” they’re closed. But when police fail, more money is pumped into policing. Maryland spends more on policing & corrections than on higher education, which says a lot.
Defund the police. Refund our communities.
It has been one year since George Floyd’s life was cut short by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. George Floyd was a loving son, father, brother and member of his community and his murder sparked the largest protests in U.S. history.
Whenever media sensationalizes "rising crime rates" & police start screaming for more money & less investment in alternatives, think: Given the historic amount we spend on police, if they actually made us safer, there shouldn't be crime at all, let alone "rising." It's a big lie.
