Finally, renters now have the security they deserve.

@SteveReedMP spoke with BBC Breakfast to set out what the Renters Rights Act means in practice, and how renters can now have greater stability in their homes.

Today marks the biggest shake-up of renters’ rights in a generation. The Renters’ Rights Act:
✅ends Section 21 evictions
✅limits rent rises to once a year
✅bans bidding wars
✅and stops discrimination against families, benefit claimants and pet owners.

🏠The Renters' Rights Act brings historic changes.

🛠️For landlords this means they will still be able to get their property back for clear reasons – like selling, dealing with rent arrears or anti-social behaviour.

Minister for Housing and Planning, @MTPennycook met with landlord and tenant groups to discuss the landmark reforms in the Renters' Rights Bill and committed to engaging with them as the Bill progresses, to ensure the sector is ready for the changes.
