i mean like seriously how is this even a debate lmao. this isn’t some super complex thing if these “eye test” people actually watched the games they would feel the same way about JB as “analytics” people
‘Analytics’
If a team gives you a superstar license you can’t be turning the ball over as much as you create an assists and if you aren’t going to take and make 3’s (because ya know, 3>2) then you better be a god in the midrange.
This is not that deep bruh omg
People often speak as though there are two opposing camps: those who watch and those who calculate. This is an illusion. The first statistician was merely someone who watched carefully enough to begin counting.
Sacramento is one of the draft’s big winners with Darius Acuff at #7 and Alex Karaban at #29.
Gotta respect the Kings front office for staying at 7 despite the 5/6 Acuff rumors then aggressively moving up for 29. Acuff, Karaban, Raynaud, Clifford. I love this young core.
i’d argue that ring counting and finals mvp’s have way way too much power to shape legacies when we are talking about a team game (rings) and small sample size (finals mvp). the two ways most people typically over/underrate players
nah but seriously that’s a bad shot regardless of who’s down there, but how many times do the spurs have to be blocked by OG in transition before they just stop trying😂
obviously Harper deserves grace for even being viable in a playoff setting as a rookie BUT
he’s been uncannily skilled at generating 4 to 5-point swings for SAS’ opponents with Iill-advised transition rim attacks
those are turnovers too!!
My biggest series take away through 3 games is how bulletproof the Harper-Castle backcourt is going to be for the next decade once Harper just becomes an average C&S 3pt shooter.
Contrarily, they stumbled into a pretty scary defensive look. Quite literally nobody to hunt, Castle and Harper give them enough rebounding, all being anchored by Wemby, it was really impressive.
One think i’m thinking about this morning from last night:
People have been BEGGING for the Fox-Harper-Castle-Vassell lineup basically all postseason, and the Spurs finally go to it last night.
It was weirdly a… clunky offensive fit?
When the ball wasn’t in Harper’s hands the ball was just been funneled to him beyond the arc, and they weren’t playing fast enough at the end of the game to capitalize on all the ball handling and playmaking on the court at once.
