1 week after the verdict in the Donaldsons case and already senior politicians are shifting the focus from the victims to themselves and to political gain. One social media post this evening had 16 references to "I". Incredible but sadly not surprising The statement starts by centring survivors but ends up centring the politician. There are repeated references to “I”, personal political battles, and future promises. In a case as serious as this, the focus should remain on victims, accountability and independent investigation—not on the author. That’s where its moral force is lost 😡

If the chair heard the outrageous language of the witness then a failure to challenge it is reprehensible. The standards of conduct in committees is very important. Robust debate is positive, but abusive language is totally unacceptable.

He outlined how he believes events like today show that his culture and all others, can have a place and be accepted in an ever-changing Northern Ireland.

He says today will live long in the memory.

The King and Queen joined organisers and performers to mark Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann coming to Belfast this August for the first time.

The Fleadh is the world’s largest festival of traditional Irish music, song and dance.

Hosting it has been described as a historic moment for the city, with those taking part today saying it shows Northern Ireland in a positive light on the world stage.
