‘60 Minutes’ legend Scott Pelley has been fired “for cause” after a fiery showdown with new leadership. In a staff meeting, he accused CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss of “murdering” the iconic program and told new EP Nick Bilton he had “slender qualifications” for the job.

Pelley’s blunt takedown didn’t go over well. In his termination letter, Bilton slammed the “performative display of hostility” and said Pelley showed “no interest in contributing to the future success of the show.”

This comes amid major shakeups at CBS following the Skydance acquisition — with several longtime correspondents and producers already shown the door.

Old guard vs. new direction resulted in a very public firing.
