I studied how the media response to climate protest shapes the actions protesters take for my dissertation last year. Figure I might make a little thread about it, because I worry that a lot of people don't really understand the thinking behind the big flashy actions we've seen!
Incredible moves from Just Stop Oil: doing a non-damaging action yesterday that made swathes of people say “what has Stonehenge got to do with climate” & then the very next day hitting a celebrity’s private jet- one of the most justified climate targets there is- with real damage
Finally got some nice big bookshelves, a nice wee desk for my prospective arts and crafts station and a CHEST DRAWERS for the flat, and all for free 🥵🥵🥵 it's all coming together
Fucking smashed the Christmas dinner this year guys, made some bangin seitan, home made vegan Yorkshire puds, roast tatties, gravy and airfreight some veg too - couldn't have happened without my pal Daniel's kitchen (the oven at mine doesn't work rip)
whether or not you're vegan, nobody can deny the animal liberation movement has blazed a trail for direct action throughout the last thirty+ years. courageous, clandestine, innovative, aggressive & uncompromising
