It has been 4 months since the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie and the Pima County Sheriff's office faces mounting criticism over its handling of the case, including accusations that it delayed FBI involvement, mishandled evidence, and communicated poorly with the public.

The United Cajun Navy, a volunteer search and rescue organization credited with thousands of rescues during Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters, offered to help months ago. The sheriff declined.
