Discourse around this post show how much fanfiction has ruined people's ability to think critically.
In fanfiction you can do whatever you want to a person, real or fake, and expect no repercussions because we're all just here to have fun.
You can't conflate this with real fiction, which has a point, a message, and a bias.
If someone has bias against Gustavus Adolphus for instance, and portrays him as a villain in a historical fiction about the thirty years' war, maybe even go as far to make him objectively evil, then Swedes came out and said "hey guys this is disparaging and offensive to us" would everyone be saying "hey it's just fiction don't get offended"
Or (I hate to use him but obtuse midwits don't know any other historical figures so for the sake of argument I will), if someone made a show where Hitler was the good guy and the jews were cartoonishly evil, we would call that out as hateful.
Society has deemed it okay for certain figures, specifically Satan, St. Joan, the Crusaders, and Inquisitors, to be "deconstructed" and fictionalized without any guardrails, and Christians have a right to call this out.
We do not have to accept perversion of our faith or history.
@kariwarburton Why is it that the only one that was aggressive was 0? Like, my guy, I’m trying! Also Apparently Brigham would have jumped me apparently.😅
@YorkshireReborn In the modern mind, there is something out there, but they are only voices and forces of the dark. There is no light at all in this mindset, only lures to drag one deeper into darkness. This leaves no room for light to be good, how then can there be room for God?
Secular people get angry at Christians for using pop culture to express their faith, yet simultaneously ridicule Christians for getting upset when their sacred figures, symbols, and religious beliefs are distorted or desecrated.
Apparently, reinterpretation is only allowed one way Funny how that works
@the_don1722@inspirewolivia Ah yes, the “you are brainwashed, and you are dumb” claim. Ladies and Gentlemen, the fruits of modern Christianity: Hate the sinner. And what was the sin again? Honoring the faith of your fathers? Jesus himself didn’t forsake the law of his mortal parents. He fufilled it.
