Despite all of the fantastic resources out there on proper XPS analysis, there is still a worrying number of bad XPS fitting that passes review.

After all these years, I shouldn't be surprised by some XPS "fitting" which passes review. Courtesy of a literature search on ZnO/MoO3 comes today's gallery of dross. All published within the last 12 months. Three journals, impact factors 3.6, 5.1 & 5.9.
