Right before you die & disappear from existence for eternity, you'll regret spending finite time alive looking at half-formed thoughts on this website written by people/bots you'll never meet, who don't care about you & whose invective harmed your mood, your brain & your life.
Dems have been sadly quiet on student debt the past year—but from utilities to groceries to gas to Medicaid, the highest effective bill increase workers will get this year is still student loans.
Alabama has always been at the forefront of change. We’re calling for a tax system that matches who we actually are.
Throughout the next week, while the Arise office is closed, we'll be uplifting our recommendations for a fairer tax system for Alabama.
Wrote this essay about how the language we are using to describe this political moment is insufficient and imprecise. I hope to never hear the phrase anti-racism again.

Alabama's new laws threaten to erode representation and engagement of all communities. Join state and national allies for a day of action and resistance in Montgomery, on Sat., May 16. Visit https://t.co/BNhKSVHqAA for more information.

If you're looking for media content that only confirms your priors & only boosts politicians you've been inculcated to worship, you aren't actually seeking journalism that holds power accountable - you are seeking party propaganda that soothes your ego. https://t.co/S7Sa1XRuA8
Contact your state rep and state senator now and urge them to vote against legislation that would undermine voting rights and introduce chaos into Alabama’s elections. #alpolitics https://t.co/LcFj20uJMf
Once you understand that most people are not Christians and are just slaves to superstition and fear, not followers of an ethos that leads them to find self-actualization and community, the Christian right will make sense to you.
“When you can buy your way out of any mistake, when you can fire anyone who disagrees with you, when your social circle consists entirely of people who need something from you, the basic mechanism by which humans learn that other people are real goes dark” https://t.co/UkZwbuqVqp
I think it’s a bummer that our lives coincided with the rise of addictive technologies that steal the one finite human resource: our time being conscious & alive.
Young people thinking about their future should prioritize creating a life that avoids these technologies.
We don’t need this much information. We don’t need this much feedback. It serves nobody but the owners of the algorithms that amplify what they want you to see, read & hear — and shadowban what they want to suppress.
Finding work and a lifestyle that has absolutely nothing to do with the attention economy is the smart life choice to avoid the mistakes many of my generation made.
I’m proud of the work I’ve done and still do — and I try not to let attention economy considerations shape it. I think the work has value (though I experience enough personal insults every minute of every day to make me constantly question that assumption, and I often wonder if even participating in the attention economy inherently makes me complicit).
But if I had a time machine, I think I’d go back and try to warn my young self about this — though I doubt I woulda listened because my young optimistic self would not have believed the future would be so dystopian.
Attention is a finite resource — it’s your time being alive. Guard it. Use it wisely and intentionally. Don’t let it be stolen by those aiming to extract & monetize your cognition.
I’m sorry but the future belongs to those who read widely, who are able to write without the assistance of a machine, who haven’t allowed endless slop to kill their curiosity and cognitive abilities. Excess tech is going to melt many brains. Yours doesn’t need to be one of them.
Two bills affecting Alabama's Public Service Commission – one good and one bad – are now in the House. Email your state representative now and ask them to support HB 475 and to oppose SB 360. #alpolitics https://t.co/i1H5lyefpf
Watching Amazon Prime while the Iranians burn.
Stuffing our mouths with cheesysugarbacon
while the sky turns black over Tehran.
Laughing without smiling.
Laughing with full mouths and empty eyes
while their water mixes with oil and blood.
"Hoho this will hurt Trump in the midterms"
the liberal chortles,
masturbating furiously
while ruined parents pull ruined schoolbags
out of ruined schools.
Frolicking on lawns with hamburgers in both fists
doing patchouli tai chi
in clothes made by slaves
as black rain waters gardens
of severed limbs and blown-out eyeballs.
This is our culture.
This is our religion.
Praying to Pornhub while children scream,
telling ourselves it will all be worth it
when Iranian women can do OnlyFans
to pay for boob jobs and butt lifts
and go to Capitalist Heaven when they die.
Jizzing Taco Bells and bail bonds firms
all over the global south,
our bellies full of the flesh of children,
our veins full of plastic
and our mouths full of Lexapro,
dancing at the ballroom covered in blood and brains,
gyrating to AI-generated music
cranked up to maximum volume
to hide the sounds of the explosions
and the gasps of our dying souls.
Oh I'm sorry,
am I bumming you out?
Have a hamburger and a Xanax.
Everything's fine.
This is all normal.
Let's pick the bits of skull and teeth from our hair
and go party.
@RepTerriSewell Not good enough! Our service members are not the only one's in harms way. What about the Iranian families who are going to lose their lives? What about the Iranian children? It's not just about procedures. It's about what's right and wrong!
@SenTuberville @KatieBrittfor You all better be making moves to do something about this president. How many more children have to die? How many more people have to lose their lives for you to get unstuck from Trump's ass??
