some acquaintances told me they read heated rivalry on their book club but didn't like it (which is fair), however, they read it in spanish (& from what I read, it's very awkwardly translated) and when they offered me to join, I saw they had a "no book series" rule (not fair!!)

Also they told me most of them also watched the show and loved it. Why is it such a different experience? I mostly blame it on the translation, because explicit scenes always sound weirder in your mother tongue

@ringthemoon I would even argue the show doesn't show this dynamic at all, friends who only saw the tv show complained they didn't understand why Shane ran after Ilya showed him a less casual attitude because they thought it was Shane who wanted to be less casual from the beginning
