FIRE RESTRICTIONS LOWERED TO STAGE 1 — EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Recent monitoring of fire danger, fuel moisture, and weather conditions shows that conditions have moderated enough to safely ease fire restrictions.

Beginning August 28, 2026, fire restrictions in unincorporated Arapahoe County, Centennial, Foxfield, and Deer Trail have been lowered from Stage 2 to Stage 1 by Sheriff Tyler Brown.

🚫 What’s Still Prohibited:
-- Open burning without a permit from the appropriate fire district
-- Use of personal fireworks

Black bear spotted in Centennial

Sheriff’s deputies responded around 10:15 a.m. to a report of a black bear in the backyard of a home in the Willow Creek subdivision.

The bear was first spotted around 8 a.m. near E. Mineral Dr. and S. Ulster St., and deputies believe it may have been in the area since early this morning.

The medium-sized bear, estimated at a couple hundred pounds, is currently hanging out near a fence in a neighbor's backyard. @COParksWildlife officials are monitoring the bear, which they say will likely move on on its own.

Willow Creek is a residential area, so please keep kids and small pets indoors. It’s also trash day in the neighborhood, so the bear may be looking for an easy meal.
