Please be advised that Town of Bennett crews are currently working to repair a leak in the water line on 3rd Street and Lincoln Avenue. As a result, water service will be temporarily shut off on 3rd Street from Washington Avenue to Grant Avenue until further notice.
American Red Cross will be available at the Bennett Recreation Center, 455 South First Street, tomorrow, May 20, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., to assist people impacted by the tornado. If you were impacted by Sunday’s storm, please try to attend in person to receive support.
TORNADO UPDATE: Emergency Management officials say a tornado touched down at least three times near the Town of Bennett. A Code Red Alert was sent out to residents. The latest reports from Incident Command are:
- 17 buildings have been damaged including 6 homes
- There are no reports of any injuries
- There is an information center set up at the Bennett Recreation Center, 455 S. 1st St., Bennett
- If you have large animals needing shelter you can take them to the Adams County Fairgrounds
- Small Animals can be taken to the Town of Bennett Safety Building, 365 Palmer Ave.

Multiple agencies are working this incident including @AdamsCoSheriff, @ArapahoeSO, @SouthMetroPIO, @BennettFirePIO, @StrasburgFire, @ByersFD, @TownofBennett, Bennett School District 29J, and Rampart Search and Rescue.
We are moving our information center to the Bennett Recreation Center (455 S. 1st St. Bennett) for anyone with questions or needing resources.
We have an updated total of 10 homes and buildings lost or damaged from the tornado.

The Town of Bennett is aware that a tornado touched down very close to our community this afternoon. At this time, we are working closely with emergency personnel to assess the situation and ensure there is no additional damage in the area.

RAMP CLOSURE
The I-70 Eastbound off ramp will be closed tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. for several hours for directional arrows to be installed on the new signal. Traffic will be detoured to Exit 305. During this time please use patience while traveling through the area.
On Nov. 18, there will be a half lane closure on 8th St from Palmer Ave to Sharis Ct. The Town will be working on a water line in the area. This will have no effect on service. The lane will be closed until Nov 26. Please use caution when traveling through the construction area.

On Saturday, Sept. 9th from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., Palmer Avenue will be closed from 4th Street to Trupp Park and 1st Street will also be closed from Palmer Avenue to Lincoln Avenue. Please use an alternate route during this time. Thank you!
