This week, representatives from each department across the @townofnewmarket came together to collaborate and test our Emergency Management process.
Every year, a mock-scenario is created and revealed the day of the exercise.
Everyone works together to ensure all our residents are looked after and our community is able to move through and recover from a large-scale event.
This year's exercise was called "Clearwater" - where we dealt with a hazardous gas (chlorine) at the Magna Community Centre.
Well done team!

We try our best to make each year more fun than the last - because the more reasons we can give you to come through our doors, the more opportunities we have to connect with our community and share fire safety information that can help keep your family safe.
The hose targets, train rides, inflatable slide, games, prizes, live demos and unique community partners all have something in common: they bring our residents together with their fire department.
We also love the chance to show our residents a sample of how your local firefighters protect the community beyond just fire-related calls.
Once youβre here, we have the chance to talk about smoke and CO alarms, safe battery recycling with the Ghost Busters, pet safety with Golden Rescue, home escape planning, emergency preparedness, what to do when a fire happens - and most importantly - how to prevent a fire in the first place.
Did Ghost Busters out front bring you in this year? Was it the chance to tour an ambulance, police car or firetruck? Was it Golden Rescue with their dogs out front educating on pet safety? The arts and crafts station for the kids?
Sometimes the best way to get people talking about fire safety is to give them a reason to show up.
Weβll bring the fun. You bring the family.

Today we officially named Station 4-3 in memory of the late Deputy Fire Chief Stewart G. Patrick.
Stewart devoted nearly 50 years to serving Aurora! With three generations of the Patrick family having served from this station, his name will be a lasting reminder of their remarkable commitment to the Aurora Fire Department and Central York Fire Services.
Congratulations to the entire Patrick Family on this well deserved recognition.
π¨ A safer community starts at home.
Kidde Canada has donated nearly $100,000 worth of combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to Central York Fire Services to help keep homes across the @TownofNewmarket and the @Town_of_Aurora safe. These life-saving devices will go directly into our community through the annual Stay Fire Smart program which runs each summer.
Together we want to remind everyone to take a moment to test your alarms and make sure theyβre working properly. Join people across the province in pressing the βtestβ button on September 28 for Test Your Smoke Alarm Day!

Who are we? π
This time of year we get a lot of calls requesting school visits, which we love to do!
However, many schools from across York Region and Toronto confuse us for their local department.
Here is a great reference map from the York Region (The Regional Municipality of York) website that identifies each municipal fire service's jurisdiction/boundaries and fire station locations.
We are are the fire service that proudly protects the @TownofNewmarket and @Town_of_Aurora
If you are looking to book an educational visit, information session, partnership, or station tour in our area: https://t.co/3rvw6p01EI
If your location is in another municipality, contact your local Town Office to be directed to the Fire Prevention Division for your area.
They would love to hear from you!
We honour the firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty.
We remember those who answered the call to protect others and thank all firefighters who continue to serve our communities.
β€οΈ We honour their courage and commitment.
β€οΈ We remember their sacrifice and service.
β€οΈ We stand in gratitude.

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 - 25 YEARS LATER
Today, emergency service personnel across the world pause in reflection and remembrance. 25 years later, we continue to remember those whose lives were forever changed on September 11, 2001.
Across all five of our fire stations in Newmarket and Aurora, our members came together for a moment of silence to honour the lives lost and to remember the first responders who answered the call that morning - running toward danger while others were trying to escape.
We remember the 343 firefighters of the FDNY, 23 NYPD Officers, 37 Port Authority Police Officers, and EMTs/Paramedics who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks, in addition to the thousands of civilians whose lives were lost that day.
We also remember the countless first responders from across the U.S., Canada, and around the world who travelled to Ground Zero in the days and weeks that followed to assist with rescue and recovery. Among them were members of our own fire service who answered that call to serve in the aftermath of this tragedy.
25 years later, their legacy continues to remind us of the courage, compassion, and selflessness that unite fire and emergency services - across borders and around the world.

We are so proud to work alongside Retired Captain Gord Davidson tonight who generously visited with the Aurora 1926 Lorne - celebrating 100 Years of Tradition! π
He is one of only 5 people who can drive this piece of our history, so it is an honour to have them and the truck visit us.
Check out our last post to see when you can catch it next, thanks to Ret. Captain Davison, Ret. Captain Roylance, and Ret. Firefighter Davis!
