The duke's coffin will now rest in the royal vault until, in time, he is joined by the queen and together they will be buried in the King George VI's memorial chapel with the queen's father and mother. He will now wait for her.

The 'media' surely needs to modernise in its attitude to, and reporting of, the royals. It was a deferential relationship brokered by Prince Philip in 1950s but now needs to be redrawn: needs nuanced reporting of public opinion and discourse as exists for politics.
