One of my cousins works with Jarus Homes. Field work.
A very hardworking man.
But I have been sweating to get him ask for reimbursement of all the minor expenses he spends in the course of his work - transport to regulatory agency offices, sites etc.
I understand the shyness that could come with asking the company to refund you 1.5k you spent from your pocket, but I don’t believe in staff spending their money for business activity.
Try to be reasonable when incurring expenses, but there is absolutely no amount of money that should be too small to seek refund of. I suspect this brother has spent up to N20k (from bits of 1k here, 2k there) in the past one month, but I am getting tired of telling him to send the list of all payments he had made from his pocket.
I do not believe staff should spend their personal money for a business activity without being reimbursed.
And from an accounting perspective, it also means understating of our expenses (= overstating of our profits) as it makes it impossible to capture all our expenses. No expense is too minor.

We assessed the damage at Lekki, and are confident we'll be back even stronger! Truth be told, we sympathise with the people who needed to resort to this kind of destruction. No time for anger. Time to rebuild - and we dont mean just the supermarket. #SPARstrong#StayFocused
