This is a remarkable book about a tragic mishap. John masterfully explains how a 729-foot ship succumbed to 50-foot waves — a story encircled by the lives lost and the spirit that endures.
I served nearly 19 years on the Northwestern Mutual Board, where a model of the *Edmund Fitzgerald* sat in one of our board offices. I never fully appreciated its haunting story until *The Gales of November.*.
Congratulation John!
Steelcase has been an important part of my life for more than three decades, and I will always be grateful for the privilege of serving its people, dealers and customers.
I’m deeply proud of the company’s legacy of design, innovation, and commitment to their communities, and I carry with me long lived friendships and life lessons from my years there.
As this next chapter begins with HNI, my wish is that the talented people of Steelcase continue to thrive and that the values which have defined the company remain a source of strength.
I wish HNI and everyone at Steelcase great success in building a future that honors the company’s remarkable heritage while seizing new opportunities ahead.

@TonyPaul1984@chengelis I have led “family businesses” and namesakes rarely get acknowledged for their talent as the skeptics claim “ silver spoon” Jay Harbaugh is a REAL talent and future HC
UM has an extremely bright future given talent and history matching the world’s biggest challenges/innovations: Pandemic, Environment, AI, Transportation. Let’s show compassion and kindness to the people involved who made mistakes and move on for all. Build up; not tear down!
