I feel not enough Americans know about the War of 1812 nor is taught adequately in the classroom.
Had to take a college level US history course to learn much. Even then much of what I know I learned well past my school days.
Summer, summer, summertime โ๏ธ
June 21 is the summer solstice for folks north of the Equator. This is when the Northern Hemisphere reaches its maximum tilt toward the Sun and has its longest stretch of daylight all year. https://t.co/LmLttEnj9Y
What I find fascinating is how the lessons from constructing an American landmark, the Statue of Liberty, influenced the construction of a French landmark, the Eiffel Tower.
Yeah, this is very worrying.
Love the Packers being the Green Bay Packers.
I hate paywalls to watch Packers games as much as the next fan; but there has to be another way.
From the Packers: โPackers fans everywhere should be deeply concerned that Rep. Fitzgerald admitted to giving 'zero' consideration to keeping the Packers in Green Bay as he explores upending the 65-year-old Sports Broadcasting Act.โ

A potent low pressure system will bring storms to the Great Lakes region Wednesday. For our neck of the woods this will mean some widespread showers and storms, with a the potential for a few strong or severe storms in central and east-central Wisconsin.#wiwx
Of course, I am happy that the Strait of Hormuz will soon be open. That's a good outcome for the entire global economy.
But the Strait was opened before the war. We did not need a war to keep it open.
Sadly, it comes across as a win for Trump to many of his supporters. The Strait of Hormuz is opened up, the economy can return to normal-ish, and there is no more war. They'll bask in the 'win' with him.
It makes his birthday even more historically special, in his eyes.
What is truly amazing is how badly Trump wanted to sign this total US surrender to the IRGC on his birthday. Like heโs proud of it. Itโs just dumbfounding.
The US/Israel-Iran/Hezbollah War definitely feels like snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
Agreeing to talk about nuclear weapons and getting the Strait of Hormuz open (with knowledge Iran can close it with impunity) is pretty much resetting the conditions before the war!
When you:
* Lose billions of dollars in infrastructure,
* Use all your interceptors
* Achieve no regime change
* Then offer a deal that is nothing short of conceding basically every point to the enemyโฆ.
Then yeah no matter how much damage you did, you lost the war! ๐คทโโ๏ธ

Trump is now committing to the IRGC that Israel will not attack in Lebanon.
Israel committed to no such thing and will absolutely retaliate to any attack from Lebanese territory including a drone fired at Israel a minute and a half ago.
When that happens, when Israel defies Trump and attacks in Beirut, Trump will ultimately turn on Israel and letโs be honest, the only thing standing in the way of America and Israel totally breaking up is Trump.
The anti Israel sentiment in the US is totally mainstream and widespread. Without the diplomatic channels, America turns on Israel.
If things play out as they look like they will, this might very well become the beginning of the end of the US/Israel relationship.
I hope Iโm wrong but this recent Trump tweet is a very very bad sign.
Itโs not a question of if. Itโs a question of when the US and Israel break up.
In the short term, thatโs scary for Israel being that every iron dome missile costs north of $100k. Itโs also very damaging to the US because Israeli tech and intelligence are very important to the US.
Long term though, itโs a positive thing. This relationship is an unhealthy one and itโs the equivalent of an abusive relationship.
Sometimes the spouse is all nice (Trump) and sometimes they beat the hell out of their partner (Obama/Biden).
Right now the husband (Trump) is being all nice to the wife (Israel), but there is only one way to handle an abusive relationship and that is to get the hell out.
Ultimately Israel needs total independence including military independence and economic independence so this break up long term is a very good thing.
I have no doubt itโll happen and I think itโll happen soon.
Thoughts?
