@BBCPanorama I've just watched your programme Universal Credit: One year On. I'm wondering why in the opening five minutes you show multiple closeup shots of the dirt on the hands of a claimant? Shouldn't we move beyond damaging stereotypes of those in #poverty? I expected better
Huge thanks to @DeborahFW and @GuiltFemPod Just bossed a meeting to determine the future of my PhD. Stood tall, strong and safe in the knowledge that I have a voice and it should be heard. Recommended listening for all women, especially those in academia #phdchat#phdlife
Forever amazed at the diverse forms of research my PhD requires. Today’s contribution? An hour long chat with my parents about homeownership, right to buy and how the housing market has changed in their lifetime. Question: can I cite my dad as a reference? #phdchat#phdlife
How refreshing (and powerful) it would be to have a party leader who has witnessed the brutal reality of #homelessness and #addiction

I’m standing to be the next Labour Leader. Politics needs honest voices. Only when we are honest again, with ourselves & with the country, will we become the people who get to make the decisions. I can’t do this alone. Join me to help make things better at https://t.co/BCJG9DjidP
@Elle_Murphy_ I’ve been asking myself exactly the same question. We do people a disservice when we imply that their personal success stories, however big or small, fall short of the established standard
I end my first full year of #homelessness research with mixed emotions: exhausted by the suffering witnessed, mourning those lost and admiring the strength and hope of incredible individuals.
If I am qualified to say anything, it is that we must confront the fork in the road
Thank you @BBCRadio4 So refreshing to see that even within a constricting Twitter character limit, it is possible to avoid dehumanising phrases like “the homeless” & “the vulnerable”
More of this please. How we talk about those who are marginalised matters
Phil first turned to the Connection when he was homeless himself. Now he volunteers there helping homeless and vulnerable people. Find out more about Phil, the Radio 4 Christmas Appeal and how you can help: https://t.co/ofGbi7C2dM #R4XmasAppeal
If you know little about British gang culture and how easy it is for young people to get sucked in, then I urge you to watch #BlueStoryMovie. A devastating story (and incredible soundtrack) with the power to educate us all. Hats off to @RealRapman
Yes I passed my upgrade. And yes I am celebrating with whiskey cake (& in case you were wondering, yes my colleagues are THE BEST) @Catrin_Bethan@A_Foccaert
We keep asking ‘what’s wrong with you?’ instead of ‘what’s happened to you?’
A reconceptualisation of #addiction as simply the result of #trauma would be applicable to every conversation that I have ever had with someone facing #homelessness and grappling with substance use
