The LA Co. Board of Supervisors delayed voting on a motion that would force the Sheriff's Dept to name deputy gangs within its ranks on Tuesday.
The move came in front of about 30 uniformed personnel who filled the meeting's gallery.

I’m here outside of the LA Co Board of Supervisors mtg where a motion on deputy gangs is being heard.
If passed, the motion directs LA Sheriff Robert Luna to work w/ the Civilian Oversight Commission, Inspector General & County Counsel to identify & name deputy gangs inside LASD
After hours of discussion, the motion has been split and continued for 30 days.
Sup. Hahn had questions about how meet and confer would play into the motion (spoiler: it doesn’t as the motion doesn’t include policy change).
See you back here in 1 month for an update.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved about $3 million in settlements related to the Sheriff's Department in August of 2026.
I broke down how the funds paid out: a lieutenant DUI, a deputy accused of s*xual abuse, and more.

I joined @diprimaradio on @kbla1580 to break down LAPD’s report on the 2 weeks of protests against ICE in June 2025.
LAPD revealed they are designating people who wear protective equipment as hostile actors & using undercover cops to infiltrate protests.

23 years ago this week: Deondre Brunston was gunned down by LA County Sheriff's deputies after he threw a sandal at a police dog. My additional review of this case revealed that some of the deputies behind Deondre's death are part of a deputy gang.
