@rogcastbaseball If they are in the neighborhood of .500 and inside 5 games from a playoff spot, they have very tough decisions to make although getting to that point SHOULD inspire confidence in where the last 70ish games might lead. Not likely they get to that spot but...
@JimCosta_ Realistically, the market doesn't heat up until the break and Skubal probably needs that long to prove he's healthy. If the Tigers are near .500 and within 5 games of a postseason spot at that point, they have hard decisions to make, otherwise it's time to build for 27 & beyond
@TigersData Agreed. Torres has limitations but he's going to stack quality PA and make the right play in the field. He's probably not a 3 WAR player anymore but I'm convinced the Tigers would have at least 3 more wins if he'd stayed healthy.
@DoeJumars The one thing I can say for him is that if there's a play an MLB SS should make, he probably makes it and that puts him well above the internal competition
@Wolffman96 He's never likely to hit consistently for average with a walk rate below five percent. He'll have streaks and he'll always be good late in close games b/c he can hit heat from even the best closers if it's in the zone, but too much chase to be more.
@MoustacheBarnes I'm taking the shot. I'm 56, haven't attempted a layup in 20 years but used to be more comfortable shooting lefty layups because I was jumping off my right leg.
@MCB_johnverburg I'm assuming any guy who doesn't pitch for 11 days is doing a lot of focused work on the side. Hopefully tonight is a sign that was the case and progress was made.
@TannersTigers@IYKbaseball I think we have the data to know he can't hit real heat and can't hit anything from RHP. It's (sort of)fun watching him swing from his shoes every time he offers but that only gets you so far.
